1️⃣ It was the first year of the new style GCSEs and all my students worked really hard towards their exams.

🎙️ The new READING ALOUD element of the speaking didn’t phase them!

🗣️👂🏻Also, the new DICTATION element was embraced!

👉 Learning a language a little bit each day works best when you keep tasks SMALL and SIMPLE.

⏱️ Study for just ten to fifteen minutes DAILY. Do this at the same time each day to build a strong habit.

💪🏼 Focus on steady progress instead of trying to learn everything at once.

☕️ Pick a short time to do your practice right after your morning coffee or tea.

🗂️Use a flashcard app, such as QUIZLET on your phone for quick reviews.

😴 Stop BEFORE you feel tired so you want to come back tomorrow.

🤪 Keep Learning FUN; watch a short video in your new language, LISTEN to a quick music track or podcast, LABEL simple items in your house with sticky notes OR 🗣️ SPEAK out loud to yourself when you are alone.

🏎️ Acquiring a new language is NOT a QUICK journey; it’s steady, sometimes bumpy and sometimes you’ll feel like you’re going backwards ⏮️.

😇 At Leap into Languages we are NOT interested in PERFECTION; we favour COMMUNICATION!

🏋🏼‍♀️ Of course it’s important to work on your accuracy long term BUT it’s BEING UNDERSTOOD that counts in the short term.

📋 🔠Yes, VOCABULARY matters BUT trying out what you know in every day situations & conversations is MORE USEFUL.

🎬 Spend more time LISTENING to conversations; whether it’s on holiday abroad, from podcasts, watching a film, attending a language class or simply singing along to a tune in the native language 🎶.

✋🚦STOP obsessing over PERFECT GRAMMAR when speaking and REFLECT on what you can LEARN from your mistakes.
