A little bit of maths from today ✨

We’ve been using Numicon alongside the bus stop method for division 🚌➗

Sometimes written methods can feel a bit like a set of steps to remember, especially when children are still building their understanding of what is happening with each digit.

Using Numicon gives a more practical way to explore the numbers involved and talk through the process. We can focus on each digit, what it represents and how the division works step by step.

It’s always lovely when a resource helps make the maths feel a little less abstract and gives children that “oh, I get it!” moment 💡 Numicon - Math in your hands

Local Home Ed Group Meet Up Burgess Hill

👉 On Thursday 16th July we plan to meet up again at Dice and Drinks board games cafe in Burgess Hill.

👉 On previous two weeks when we have met at Dice & Drinks there have been children & young people attend from 4 to 16 years old.

👉 Parents need to stay with their children during the meet, but its a great opportunity for parents to make connections & chat with other home ed parents & have a hot or cold drink too 🥤☕️🧋

Learning looks different for every child. A small glimpse into some of the activities I’ve done with children recovering from school-based trauma and those who sit between provisions. Not quite fitting into mainstream or specialist SEN settings. Progress doesn’t always look the way people expect it to.

Engagement is often the first step; building trust, relationships and a sense of safety must come before academic expectations! 🙏

Every child’s pathway is different. But they will get to where they need to be eventually. 🤍

Hello,

I’ve finally managed to organise a subscription to IXL learning! I’ll have access to the English, Maths and Science section. Super excited to incorporate this with tuition.

My students will be able to have their own log in and practice the skills learnt in 1:1 tuiton.

A lot of parents have asked for work in between lessons and this will be a great resource for families.

I have space for 25 students. Please message me privately to organise a login for your child if you’re interested.
