That’s why they aren’t recommended for children under 4.

Childcare Offer for Wales – Change to future application opening dates

Recent feedback from parents highlighted they were unclear when they could apply for the Offer as application opening dates varied across Wales. We have therefore agreed with local authorities that a universal application opening date will now apply across Wales in order to bring consistency of experience for parents and childcare providers. As such, applications for the Childcare Offer for Wales will now open 75 days prior to the start of term.

The change will come into effect in time for those taking up Childcare Offer places from the autumn term, which begins 2 September 2024. This means that applications for Childcare Offer funded childcare for the 2024 autumn term will open from 19 June 2024. As always, parents who are approved to receive the Childcare Offer will be asked to make contact with the childcare provider of their choice to discuss their needs, before setting up an Agreement on the Childcare Offer for Wales platform.

Cases of Measles are increasing in the UK. Measles can be a very serious disease and cause severe, even life threatening complications. Make sure your child is protected – it is never too late to catch up.

2 doses of the MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella) vaccine are needed for 95% protection against Measles. If you are unsure of your child’s vaccination status you can check via the following avenues:

• Call 01874 442 510 (Mon-Fri 11am-4pm)

If your child is not fully vaccinated, and you haven’t already made an appointment with your GP for MMR vaccination you can access one of our drop-in sessions at our vaccination centres. Available at:

Pre-School Admissions – Apply Online Now

Do you need to apply for a place for pre-school admissions in either January, April or September 2025?

If so, the Pre-School Admission Round for children born between 01/09/2021 – 31/08/2022 opens on Friday 1 March 2024.

Parents / carers need to complete an online application at https://en.powys.gov.uk/article/3810/Apply-for-Pre-School-3-and-4-yr-olds-Early-Years-Education

Applications need to be made by the deadline of 31 March 2024.

Pre-School Admissions Offer Date is Monday 30 September 2024.
