5 - Growth 🧑‍🩰🩰✨

One of the greatest privileges of running URBN StreetZ is watching people change.

Not just as dancers. As human beings.

I’ve seen students walk into the studio shy, nervous and unsure of themselves.

I’ve seen them struggle.

I’ve seen them get frustrated because something isn’t working.

I’ve seen people want to give up.

But I’ve also seen what happens when they keep going.

That first move they couldn’t do suddenly becomes something they can do without thinking.

The student who was terrified to perform suddenly owns the stage.

The person who barely spoke in class starts encouraging someone else.

And slowly, almost without realising it, they become more confident, more resilient and more comfortable in who they are.

That is growth.

And that’s why I never wanted URBN StreetZ to be a place where we only measure success by how good someone is at dancing.

I care about the dancer, of course.

But I care just as much about the person they are becoming.

Because if a student leaves URBN StreetZ believing a little more in themselves than they did when they arrived…
then we’ve done something truly worthwhile.

That’s why growth will always be at the heart of what we do. 🧡

💃✨ 𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒅𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒔𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒍 𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝑩𝒖𝒅𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒂𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓?✨💃

I know a few people have been wondering why the dance school was absent from this year’s carnival, so I thought I’d share the reason! 💐

Yesterday, my wonderful brother and sister-in-law got married! 💕
Many of you will recognise them from the dance shows and helping the school at various events over the years.

So, rather than being dressed up in fancy dress and parading around Bude with my talented dancers, I was dressed up as a bridesmaid for the beautiful couple! 👰‍♀️💍🤵‍♂️

I hope Bude Carnival went amazingly and that all of my students had a fantastic time. I am sure they enjoyed having a year out and getting to watch the carnival instead, I definitely know I have some making up to do for my dancers! 😂💃

Plans for next year’s carnival are already underway… and let’s just say, I think we’ll be coming back with a bang! 🎉

Day 4 - Regularity 💫

One of the things that makes my dance school truly special is that every class is taught by me, and every part of the school is organised and run by me. 🧡

For my students, this means consistency, familiarity and regularity. They know who will be there each week, and I get to know them — not just as dancers, but as individuals.

And honestly, that’s one of the most special parts of what I do. 🥹✨
I get to build genuine bonds with every student, support them through challenges, celebrate their little wins and be there as they grow.

Because I’m there every step of the way, I’m able to really watch their progression — from those first nervous steps as a beginner, to becoming confident, kind, talented and incredible dancers. 🩰🧑🏼‍🩰🤸🏼‍♀️

Watching that transformation is something I’ll never take for granted. 🫶🏻

For me, the dance school isn’t just about teaching dance. It’s about creating a safe, supportive space where every student feels seen, valued and encouraged to become the very best version of themselves.

And I feel incredibly lucky that I get to be part of their journey. ✨

Day 3 - Dance is about memories. 🤍

At URBN StreetZ, one of the values closest to my heart is making sure that everyone who is part of the school gets to create incredible memories — my students, parents/ guardians of students, families and friends of the school.

It’s the little moments that become the big memories: the excitement before a show, the laughter in rehearsals, cheering each other on, celebrating achievements, making lifelong friendships and sharing experiences together. ✨

I don’t just build dancers. I help them in building confidence, friendships, community and a collection of memories that will stay with us all long after the music stops. 🩰🧡

Because this dance school isn’t just somewhere you come to dance… it’s somewhere you belong. 💫🧑🏼‍🩰

Day 2 - Opportunity 🏆🏉🏟️

I’ve always believed that sometimes a young person doesn’t need someone to tell them what they can become.

They just need someone to give them the opportunity to find out.

That belief is a huge part of why URBN StreetZ exists.

I never wanted students to simply come to class, learn choreography and go home.

I wanted them to experience what dance could actually open up for them.

Performing.

Competing.

Travelling.

Training.

Creating.

Meeting people.

Taking risks.

Standing on a stage and feeling that moment when the lights come on and everyone is watching.

Because you never know what one opportunity can do to someone.

A performance can change their confidence.

A competition can teach them resilience.

A team can show them what they’re capable of when they work together.

And sometimes, one opportunity can change the direction of a person’s life.

That’s why I care so much about creating opportunities at URBN StreetZ.

Not because every student needs to become a professional dancer.

But because every student deserves the chance to discover what they’re capable of.

I want them to leave us with stories, experiences, confidence and most importantly with the belief that maybe, just maybe…

they can do more than they ever thought possible. 💫

That’s what opportunity means to me. 🧡
