The children at George Grenville Academy have been taking part in the Kindness Challenge this week to raise money for Childline.
Each year group have selected 6 challenges to complete over the weekend. Some of examples of these are making cards for people in local care homes, decorating and selling biscuits, taking food donations to the local food bank, litter picking and helping with lunchtime jobs.
We have also had reports of lots of acts of kindness at home. Well done, everyone!

We were so lucky to be joined on
Wednesday by the New Mozart Orchestra.
The children enjoyed a wonderful concert
and learned about the four instrument
families: strings, woodwind, brass and
percussion. We also sand along to "You've
Got a Friend in Me."
On Thursday, Year 6 also
enjoyed a workshop, learning
more about different
instruments.

The children across the school have been learning all about the nine day Hindu festival, Navaratri. Year 1 were lucky enough to have a special visitor, Joyti, who explained why and how Hindus celebrate Nivaratri and taught them a special dance. One of the children in the class also taught their friends how to do a stick dance, which is usually part of Hindu celebrations.

The children at George Grenville Academy have been learning about Harvest. Reception have been baking bread and Year 1 performed 'The Little Red Hen' in our whole school assembly on Friday. We also had poems performed from Nursery and Reception and heard some wonderful singing from all the children across the school.
Year 6 took the lead and wrote their own assembly during class time. It was a wonderful community event and we would like to thank all the parents who attended and donated food for Buckingham Food Bank.

Year 3 have started to explore the story of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” today. They have begun to plan a new room for a new character to join the story and have started to create a word bank of adjectives. The children loved walking into the ‘Gingerbread Room’ and seeing all the delights - smelling, touching and even tasting the gingerbread. We can't wait to read their chapters!
