As you may all know it's Sports Day tomorrow (21st June) and FRLS are getting the BBQ's out! 😎☀️ We will be selling burgers and bangers with veggie and gluten-free options plus snacks and drinks. If your child would like to buy from us please send them in with cash or card. Parents who are spectating are welcome to buy too. 🍔🌭🥤🌞

So pleased we could sponsor the Book Spines in the stairwells of Main Block and New Block. They certainly brighten up the dull areas and create a brighter environment for our children and raises the profile of reading around the school across the whole curriculum.

Thank you! We made a massive dent in our stock and raised a whopping £2,000 in the sale this morning.

Are you having a good clear-out of your wardrobes this half term?
FRLS have textile recycling bins on Chandos Road that are ready and waiting to take your donations 24/7. This is a great fundraiser for FRLS where we raise around £3000 a year. We're looking for clothes, bags, belts, shoes, and bedding but NO DUVETS or PILLOWS please.

FRLS have often been asked what happens to the clothes. UK Textile Recycling services many of our national and local charities such as Starlight, Barnardos, Cancer Research UK, The Fire Fighters Charity, Age Concern, and the Salvation Army. Some of the wearable items are shipped to Eastern Europe, Africa and Pakistan. This also provides employment for the locals in deprived areas. Any dirty or damaged clothing is sent to various industries in the UK and Pakistan to be used for numerous applications (eg used in car upholstery or loft insulation) which helps to reduce landfill.

SECONDHAND UNIFORM SALE - SATURDAY 8th JUNE
FRLS will be holding a Secondhand Uniform Pop-up Sale on Saturday 8th June from 10am to 12pm at the school in Room BP5 - Student Centre block which is the building slightly behind and to the left of the clock tower. Cash or Card accepted.

Any donations would also be gratefully received. Please ask your child to take them to the Student Office or leave them at the Main Reception. They must be clean and re-wearable. Any tatty clothes can go in the textile recycling bins on Chandos Road.

A ROARING SUCCESS
A massive thank you to all those who came to our Quiz Night last Saturday. It was our biggest attendance ever with a fantastic 50/50 mix of students and adults. A huge congratulations to the Winners 'The More the Merrier'. It was a very close contest with 'On Cloud 9' and 'Universally Challenged' coming in a point behind to take joint second place.

We are thrilled to announce that thanks to your incredible support, we’ve raised over £1000. Your enthusiasm, participation, and generosity truly made all the difference. A heartfelt thank you to those who contributed and helped make the event such a fantastic success. Whether you were part of a team, or volunteered to help in the fun, your presence made a significant impact.

However, this event could not have happened at all without the wonderful Quiz Master, Mr Jenkins and his wife, who entertained and got the brains moving with his variety of questions, puzzles and games. Thank you to them.

The Quiz Night will be back again next year.

We are looking for cake donations (home-baked or bought) for the Quiz Night. If you would like to donate please drop them off at school at the Main reception on Friday 17th May or bring them to the Main Hall from 11am on Saturday 18th May. A list of ingredients will also be required for those with allergies. If you can bring some in please email [email protected] so that we can gauge numbers. No nuts please.

Start gathering your teams of up to 10. Students are welcome to join in or they are welcome to set up their own team and compete with the parents or teachers! Choose a team name, and let the rivalry begin! If you don’t have enough in your team don’t worry we can put you with others in the same situation if you wish. Your Quiz Master will be our very own Mr Jenkins!

Tickets: £8 Adult, £5 Student - includes a choice of food - Chilli Con Carne (beef or veggie option) jacket potatoes, and other fillings. FRLS Bar and Snacks. Please look for more details and buy TICKETS and order food on Parent Pay. Limited number of tickets available. Prizes to be won and let's have some fun!

Note: Children will need to be supervised by a nominated adult, and FRLS and school staff will not be able to take responsibility for any participants under the age of 18.

A big thank you to the parents of FRLS for organising the Second Hand Uniform Sale last Monday evening. But a special thanks go to those who came along and purchased items - we raised £300 which will go back into the school.

We will be holding a uniform pop-up sale on Monday 5th February after school from 5pm to 6pm in the Main Hall.

We have school-branded clothes of various sizes plus we have non-branded uniform, coats, hoodies, water bottles, sports gear, lunch boxes....

THANK YOU to all those who came to our first-ever FRLS Comedy Night on the 11th November. It was lovely to see people laughing and smiling and after they had left the building. Some have asked who all the acts were: Alex Kealy, Duncan Adam, Micah Hall followed by and, just arrived in the nick of time, Ivo Graham. We are very grateful to them for coming - Ivo even wished the school a Happy 600th Birthday.

Most of our events are about uniting the school community which is at the core of the school ethos. However, the money raised is a bonus and we managed to raise just short of £1,900 so thank you all once again for your support and we hope you enjoyed it. We have been asked if we could do it again next year...we shall see!

There are just a few tickets left for the Comedy Night this Saturday (11th November). To buy tickets please use Parent Pay if you are part of the school community until 1pm Friday 10th November when it will close.

Ivo and Alex will be joined by rising star Abi Carter Simpson who was a finalist on Britain's Got Talent.

Join us for a fantastic evening with two of the country's top comedians with headline act Ivo Graham plus Alex Kealy and their friends who will be performing LIVE at the Royal Latin School in Buckingham, MK18 1AX on Saturday 11th November. Doors open at 7.30pm. Show starts at 8pm.

A bar serving drinks and snacks will be open prior to the show and during the intervals.
