Building and coding are only part of what students learn in our sessions. They also have to share ideas, divide tasks, troubleshoot together and keep going when something doesn’t work the first time.

Working in pairs and small teams helps develop communication, patience and collaborative problem-solving alongside their technical skills.

🤖 Build Highlight: The VEX IQ Clawbot 🤖

One of our favourite builds for introducing children to robotics.

The VEX IQ Clawbot helps students understand some of the fundamentals of how robots work, from arm and claw movement to motors, gears, control and coding. They build it piece by piece, test the mechanisms, troubleshoot what isn’t working and eventually programme it to move and complete challenges.

It’s a brilliant first step into more advanced robotics because the learning happens through actually building, testing and improving.

WE WON! 🏆🇬🇧

We are absolutely over the moon to share that STEM for Kids has won the Build Award at the VEX Robotics World Championship in Saint Louis — making us the only UK team to win an award in the Elementary section.

Let that sink in. Out of thousands of teams from 52 nations — our kids stood out.

The Build Award recognises excellence in robot design and construction — and it's a testament to the countless hours this team poured into their robot, refining, rebuilding, and never settling for good enough.

What a day to be proud. 🇬🇧🌍

Our STEM For Kids - UK team is at the VEX Robotics World Championship in Saint Louis. Yesterday, we had a proud moment marching in the opening parade alongside teams from 52 nations, proudly representing the United Kingdom.

Months of hard work, late nights, and never giving up brought them to this stage. Watching them stand tall among thousands of the world's best young engineers was a moment we'll never forget.

This is what STEM For Kids - UK is all about — giving young people real challenges that build real confidence.
