Recently, we were delighted to visit Dunbar primary school’s Lochend Campus to work with P7 pupils on behalf of . Olsen Renewables. We learnt about Rig Wind Farm, all about wind turbines, and all about repowering. We then designed our own turbine blades, and tested them out using dc motors and LED’s. All pupils were able to design, test, amend and retest blades, showing great team working skills and resilience.
I think we might have some future maintenance engineers in the making too!

Delighted to deliver today at Aberhill Primary School on behalf of SGN and the H100 project. We made wind turbines and hydrogen gas, mimicking the H100 project processes.

On Friday we had the pleasure of being at Lumphinnans Primary School, where the learning focussed on renewable energy and transport. We were lucky that the sun came out to allow proper testing of angles vs power, and how the weather effects that.
We also looked at wind turbine blades with another class, investigating size and material strength.
What a great day we had! 🌞 🚗

🌟 What a Year! Reflecting on an Amazing 2025 🌟

As we wrap up for the holidays, we can’t help but look back on what has truly been an incredible year for us at Bright Green Hydrogen.

In 2025, we’ve had the joy of engaging with over 5,000 students from across Scotland, from the Borders to the Highlands and everywhere in between. We’ve delivered more than 200 workshops, diving into renewable energy, sustainability, and of course the runaway favourite… solar cars! ☀️🚗

We’ve attended fantastic careers events, helped run public engagement activities, and built new partnerships that we’re excited to grow even further in the coming year.

None of this would have been possible without the continued support of our funders, and we want to say a huge thank you for helping us make a real impact in STEM education and Scotland’s green future.

Here’s to an amazing 2025, and to whatever exciting opportunities 2026 brings! 💚✨

Last Friday’s Youth Café STEM workshop was all about solar power! ☀️

Participants had a blast designing and building their own solar-powered cars, all while learning how solar energy can help power our communities sustainably.

This topic is especially relevant here in East Lothian, where several solar farm projects are already up and running or currently in development.

A fun, hands-on way to explore real-world renewable energy solutions! 🔧⚡

🌟 What a week it's been for the Fife STEM Learner Festival! 🌱⚙️💡

We were proud to support this brilliant initiative by delivering STEM workshops to schools across Fife, giving students the chance to explore renewable energy, engineering, and sustainable transport in fun and hands-on ways.

📍 At St Joseph’s RC Primary in Kelty, we explored how wind turbines are designed and constructed.
📍 At Lochgelly South Primary, pupils discovered how wind energy can be used to produce green hydrogen and even looked at how it can power vehicles!
📍 And at Saline and Dunoch Primary Schools, learners got creative with K'NEX-powered models to investigate different forms of sustainable transport and figure out how they worked.

It’s always a joy to see the curiosity and excitement STEM can spark and we’re committed to making sure every young person has the opportunity to learn, explore, and imagine a greener future.

🌱🔬 Bright Green Hydrogen was proud to support this STEM Celebration Day hosted by SGN. This event was run as part of the Fife STEM Learner Festival!

We had a brilliant time delivering workshops for pupils from across Fife, giving them the chance to explore the future of renewable energy in a fun, hands-on way.

Students took on the challenge of building wind turbine blades, discovered how green hydrogen is produced, stored, and used, and got a taste of life as an engineer thanks to SGN, complete with PPE gear and hydrogen gas detectors!

Events like this are so important for sparking curiosity and showing young people just how exciting and wide-reaching STEM careers can be. At Bright Green Hydrogen, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to engage with STEM and see themselves in a sustainable future.
