Following all the cycling and scootering the rest of the school have had with Iain, our Bike it Moor officer, the Year 6 children had a cycle ride up to King's Wood.
Once there, we had a foraging expert share their knowledge on plants and mushrooms. It was fascinating learning about their medicinal purposes as well as dietary benefits.

Also in the final week of school, we had Sport's Day.
We had a round robin of jumping and throwing activities on one morning and the races/fun relay on another morning.

The children were brilliant across the morning, led by our capable Year 6 team captains. They did an excellent job helping the younger children with each activity as well as modelling what to do.

The overall winners of Sport's Day were the yellow team! Well done yellows but also everyone else. The scores were very close between all the teams.

Year 6 treated us to a wonderful end of year show called School Daze by Edgy Productions in the final weeks of term.
It was about grandparents in the year 2085 reminiscing about their time in primary school in the year 2026.
The children did such a fantastic job learning their lines and acting their parts - putting on a performance for the whole school and the parents.
Well done everyone! Hollywood watch out.

We had a PE impact day on Monday this week with our Sport's Partners. The Barn Owls and Buzzards headed up to the field to play a Dartmoor 3-ball tournament and the Kestrels and Goldfinches had their session in the back playground.
It was good fun playing the game, practising batting, fielding and teamwork.
Well done everyone!

Over the past few weeks, Iain, our local Bike It Moor Officer, has delivered some Dr. Bike sessions at school where children have brought in their bikes and scooters for a check up and/or repairs.

Following this, Iain led some fun smoothie making where the children needed to make the smoothies by pedalling to blend the fruit!

More recently, Iain has led some scooter and bike sessions for the classes on our playground where the children have ridden safely in a fun and engaging way. Buzzards have their cycle ride upcoming.

The school have also bought a class set of scooters (including some adult ones) which can be used as Dojo treats etc in the future.

It's all very exciting!

Buzzards had a fantastic time at the beach last week learning how to surf!

It was a glorious day at Bigbury-on-Sea with the sea conditions being perfect for beginners. The children were given some instruction on how to stand on the board (on land) and then headed to the water. Some were naturals while others needed to practise but by the second surfing session, they were all standing up!

FOBS treated the children to pizzas for lunch too. Thank you so much - not just for this but all you do for our children at school.

It was a super day!

Our lovely Year 2 children had a visit to Buckfastleigh Library last week. The children listened to stories, explored the different sections of the library, and had the opportunity to browse the wide range of books available. To make the visit even more special, each child came home with a free book to enjoy.

The lovely Barn Owls had a history field trip to Buckfast Abbey to help with their learning about Anglo-Saxons. The children explored the Abbey to look for signs of Christianity, statues and stained glass windows. They created their own brooches and runes. Also, they took part in an archaeological dig looking for artefacts that may have been found at the Abbey.
All the children really engaged with the day, showing enthusiasm and respect to those leading the sessions: their behaviour was excellent. Well done everyone!
