And that’s a wrap for Easter HAF 🎉

Two weeks of fun and adventure packed with unforgettable experiences!

Activities included:

Local walk ✅

We were delighted to welcome back some familiar faces, as well as meet new groups experiencing Buckden House and the HAF programme for the first time.

What a start to HAF 2026 at Buckden House! 🙌

Our first week has been a busy one, with nearly 100 young people joining us for adventure, challenge, and plenty of fun. We’ve been out caving, tackling gill scrambles, and making the most of our high ropes, climbing, and archery sessions 🧗‍♂️🏹

This year we’ve also introduced some brand-new activities, including orienteering, rocket building, and the ever-entertaining Egg-Bert Challenge 🥚😄

Behind the scenes, it’s been all go as well—getting the centre ready for a busy summer. We’ve been washing bedding, finalising programmes, and planning menus to make sure everything is set for the months ahead.

We’re back next week with even more HAF groups booked in, and we can’t wait to do it all again!

We thought we’d struck gold… a brand new resurgence cave right on our doorstep 😍💧 Needless to say, we were very excited.

…until one quick phone call with Yorkshire Water and it all dried up rather quickly 💀

Turns out not every mysterious water feature is a hidden gem 😂

PS: Is one of these the worst vegetable to have on a boat?

Spring has officially arrived at Buckden House 🌸🌼

The garden is bursting into life with vibrant colours, fresh blooms, and that unmistakable feeling of the season changing. From bright petals to lush greenery, every corner is starting to wake up and shine.

And of course… we couldn’t resist adding a splash of colour underground too! 🪖🌈 Our latest adventures feature some brilliantly colourful (and slightly hilarious) caving helmets to match the season.

Whether you’re here for the views, the fresh air, or a bit of fun, spring at Buckden House is something special.

The weather was a bit different last week! Warm spring sunshine and a gentle breeze made our Buckden Pike hill day absolutely fandaby doo ☀️🌿

The children from White Laith Primary were fantastic, showing real resilience to reach the summit despite some tricky underfoot conditions—even with the sun shining!

We also managed to squeeze in some caving and hgill scrambling during their 3-day visit, making it a full-on adventure from start to finish.

It’s been a busy one up in Upper Wharfedale this weekend 🌞 — great to see so many people out and about enjoying that long-awaited spring sunshine!

We’ve even been out doing our bit, giving the Buckden speed limit sign a little clean-up… just in case anyone needed a gentle reminder 😉🚗

Of course, this is Yorkshire… so don’t get too comfortable — the weather’s set to turn again, with a hint of snow sneaking into the forecast for Wednesday/Thursday ❄️👀

What a fantastic few days at Buckden House! 🌿

We kicked off the week with a brilliant group of Year 7s from Bingley Grammar School. It may have been a little damp to start, but spring soon worked its magic and brought us some glorious sunshine. ☀️

The team took on the high-level route to and from Yockenthwaite, tackled a rather soggy (but very fun!) gill scramble, explored underground while caving, and finished strong by challenging themselves on the high ropes course on the final morning.

A cracking three days full of adventure, teamwork, and plenty of smiles – well done everyone! 👏

We’ve got a Buckden Pike hill walk coming up this week from Buckden House! 🥾⛰️

We’re hoping the weather is a bit kinder than when we had a quick trip up earlier this month… 🌧️ The photos here are from that outing – not from today (Saturday). Today the weather is actually great! ☀️

What a week at Buckden House! 🙌✨

Last week was a busy one, packed with both day groups and residential stays – all made possible thanks to funding from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport’s Adventures Away from Home project. Kindly distributed by UK Youth 🙏🎉

We were delighted to welcome a day visits from Hanson Academy, along with residential stays from Bradford (Park Avenue) A.F.C. and Bradford Fostering

The weather certainly kept us on our toes! 🌦️ From wet and wild gill scrambling 💦🪨 to dry(ish!) caving adventures 🕳️🧗, our groups embraced every challenge with enthusiasm. We also squeezed in tree climbing and high ropes sessions — plenty of teamwork 🤝, resilience 💪 and laughter 😄 all round.

It’s fantastic to see so many young people getting the chance to step outside their comfort zones, build confidence 🌟 and create lasting memories here in the great outdoors. 🌿🏞️

🌞 Buckden House Update 🌞

Today felt GREAT at Buckden House – the first time we’ve seen the sun during February and it definitely lifted everyone’s spirits!

Over the last few days we’ve been dodging the rain showers, but that hasn’t stopped the adventure. We’ve managed to cave, a very wet gill scramble 💦 and even get up on our high ropes despite some tricky conditions.

A super effort from all the children who’ve been with us – resilience, teamwork and smiles all round 👏

Now the big question… will we see any snow in the next 24 hours?
