Free School Meals for More Secondary School Pupils from September 2026
The Welsh Government has announced that, from September 2026, secondary school pupils in households receiving Universal Credit will be eligible for Free School Meals regardless of household income. The change will initially apply to pupils in Years 7 and 8. https://loom.ly/Ab0-qeE

A new free online service, FreeSchoolClothes.com, has launched across Blaenau Gwent and Torfaen to help families save money on the cost of school clothes and other essentials, reduce waste, and protect the environment.

The digital swap shop allows families to list good quality outgrown school clothes within their school community and request items they need for free. The platform is built around school communities and now includes all schools across both boroughs.
