💫 Counting using loose parts!

📚At Wee Gems, we encourage learning through play. Introducing numeracy and literacy activities using the resources within the nursery, making learning fun!

♻️ We also promote to reduce, reuse and recycle. We encourage our children and families to bring in any recyclable items which we then convert into interactive activities for our little ones.

🌈 Babies have the right to explore their surroundings in a safe way, supported by adults that can support their needs.
✨ Here at Wee Gems Broxburn we have provided this with our new baby space as part of our 0-2s room.
💭This space can be used if our youngest of children feel overwhelmed or for age and stage appropriate activities.

Our Wee Gems Livingston Babies went on a walk to the park yesterday, where they found 🤍 we were so touched by the note and story behind it that we decided to give back. The babies enjoyed the follow the trail finger activity of the winter wonderland book, and decided to take a new book back to the park for the next little one to find. The babies chose the book themselves and helped put it back in the bag ready for their walk back to the park.

We hope this reaches the Maddock Family and we wish to send lots of love from all of us at Wee Gems ✨

Wee Gems Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day🎅🏼🎄🎁

The team at Wee Gems wanted to thank each and every one of you who donated and supported us for Save the Children. Our teams and families have raised a total of £442 for save the children, and we are still going!

We are so proud to be able to give this money to help improve the lives of children through better education, health care, economic opportunities, as well as providing emergency aid in natural disasters, war and other conflicts. Every penny helps them and this year the UK government will be matching all the funds raised which means double the funds, double the support and double the difference 🤍

Children in Need at Wee Gems 💛

Our branches have been super busy and creative this week raising money for children in need with the children. All together Wee Gems have managed to raise over £500 for such an amazing cause! Thank you to all the staff and families who helped and donated, we are so grateful 💛

At Wee Gems Livingston, we have observed that the children in the 1-2’s playroom are enjoying using their fine motor skills to transport all their resources!💥

As Autumn is fast approaching, we spoke with the children to come up with a fun sensory experience using autumnal colours, pictures and utensils to help practice our fine motor skills 🦔🪵🍁🍂

The children loved transporting the pasta shells into tubes, loose parts, and tins! We also observed the children were discussing the autumnal colours, so we are going to progress this learning this afternoon with a different experience! 🧡

AED/Defibrillator installation ⚡️❤️

At Wee Gems Armadale, a parent attended a first aid talk at a local baby group and learned the importance of an AED/Defibrillator when someone is unresponsive and CPR is required. Access to this equipment can greatly improve the chances if survival from any out of hospital cardiac arrest.

In Armadale, Arnold Clark and Asda both have an AED but these are only available during office hours. With ambulance times being longer due (in part) to the pandemic, our parent reach out to us and expressed the importance for everyone that we have a public access AED closer than we have at the moment. This is a vital resource for the local community.

At Wee Gems Armadale we were more than happy to host a device and supported the parent as she fundraised for this!

With the help and support of all Wee Gems families and other companies we were able to raise the £1500 target and more which went towards the device, fitting, testing and maintenance.

We are so proud to announce the AED has officially been fitted and our team will be provided the correct training on how to use it if ever needed! Thank you to our parent for leading the way and to everyone who helped make it happen ❤️

🧯🦺🚦 SAFETY WEEK 🚓🚑🚨

This week at Wee Gems we were promoting safety in different environments. Our teams have created real life experiences to support the childrens understanding of fire, outings, first aid and many other safety procedures.

The children and teams have had a great time with these activities while learning so much about their every day environment. We have also had many special visitors from policemen and nurses to talk about their role and how we can all be safe.

A big win for us at Wee Gems! Well done Team ❤️
