👨👧👦💙 Today, our Nursery and Reception children had a wonderful time celebrating Father’s Day with their families.
The children were so excited to show their families around our provision and share their learning experiences. It was fantastic to see everyone getting involved in the activities, from making paper aeroplanes ✈️ and playing roll-the-dice games 🎲 to finding CVC words 🔤, junk modelling 🎨, pond dipping, cycling 🚴, building with blocks 🧱, and so much more!
✨ We always love welcoming families into school. Events like these provide a valuable opportunity for families to build relationships with one another at the beginning of their children’s school journey, while also strengthening the partnership between home and school. 🏫🤝🏡
💖 Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so special!

This afternoon, the children took part in a litter-picking activity around our school grounds. As part of their learning about how environments can change and the impact humans can have on the natural world, Year 3 discussed the importance of looking after our local habitats and microhabitats.
The children were keen to take action and help keep these areas clean and safe for the wildlife that calls them home. They worked enthusiastically as a team and showed great care for their environment.
We also visited our greenhouse to check on the plants!
Well done, Year 3 – you should be very proud of yourselves!

🚣♀️🌿 Today our Reception class took to the water in our school canoes!
We are incredibly lucky to have direct access to the canal from our school field, as well as the equipment that makes experiences like this possible. The children listened brilliantly to instructions, showed great teamwork, and worked so hard to paddle their way along the canal.
Along the way, we spotted lots of wildlife and were especially excited to see a beautiful grey heron. Although, according to some of the children, there may also have been a crocodile lurking nearby… 👀🐊
Watch out, Brownhills! 😄

We were so impressed by their creativity, imagination, and problem-solving skills. The results were fantastic, and the children thoroughly enjoyed bringing their ideas to life in the great outdoors! 🍃👗🍂

Following the whole-school assembly delivered by Show Racism the Red Card, Year 6 took part in a workshop where we explored important terminology, discussed different scenarios, played interactive games, and had the opportunity to ask questions.
The children learned so much about the importance of anti-racism, respect, inclusion, and celebrating diversity. It was an engaging and thought-provoking session that encouraged meaningful discussion and reflection.

This afternoon, our Year 4 pupils took their learning beyond the classroom and down to our very own on-site pond as part of their literacy work linked to Beyond the Pond.
The children thoroughly enjoyed pond dipping and exploring the rich variety of wildlife living in this special habitat. There was great excitement as they identified different pond creatures, with the pond skaters proving to be a particular favourite.Well done to everyone for their enthusiasm, curiosity and excellent scientific observations. 🔍🦗🍃

Year 1 Outdoor Learning & Science*
Today Year 1 enjoyed a wonderful outdoor learning session pond dipping. This activity launched our new text, _Beyond the Pond_, and the children were fascinated by the wildlife they observed.
Their imaginations have been sparked, and they now have lots of thoughtful questions about pond plants and animals. We will be investigating these together to deepen their scientific understanding and encourage a love of enquiry.
