🎳 FANCY TRYING SOMETHING NEW? WE NEED YOU! 🎳

We’re really excited to be hosting a Short Mat Bowls Taster Evening at Pencombe & Little Cowarne Parish Hall on:

📅 Friday 11th September
⏰ 7pm

We’re hoping to get enough local interest to start a NEW Short Mat Bowls Club here in the village and, ultimately, put together our very own Pencombe team! 💚

Absolutely NO experience is needed — this evening is all about having a go, having a laugh and seeing if it’s something you might enjoy. All ages and abilities are very welcome, so please don’t think “bowls isn’t for me” until you’ve tried it! 😉

The lovely team from Hereford Short Mat Bowling Association will be joining us to show us the ropes and give everyone the chance to have a go.

🍺 AND EVEN BETTER… OUR FRIDAY NIGHT BAR WILL BE OPEN! 🍷

So why not come down, grab a drink, try your hand at Short Mat Bowls and enjoy a sociable evening with friends and neighbours?

The more people who come along, the better chance we have of getting our new village club and team off the ground. 🙌🎳

🌻 A HUGE THANK YOU FROM PENCOMBE SHOW 🌻

What an absolutely wonderful day we had at Pencombe Show 2026! ❤️

We would like to say a huge and heartfelt THANK YOU to our amazing little community for coming together once again and making our Show such a fantastic success.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who took the time to enter our competitions. Whether you grew it, baked it, made it, preserved it, photographed it or created it — every single entry matters. Seeing the tables filled with such an incredible variety of entries is what makes a traditional village show so special, and we simply couldn’t have a Show without you. 🌻🍅🍰📸🧶

A very special thank you also goes to all those who helped in the weeks leading up to the Show, preparing, organising, advertising, setting up and doing all those little jobs behind the scenes that most people never see.

And, of course, thank you to everyone who gave their time on the day — our judges, stewards, volunteers, helpers and everyone who rolled up their sleeves and helped wherever they were needed.

Finally, thank you to everyone who came along to support us. Whether you entered a competition, volunteered, bought a drink, had a go at something, brought the children, stayed for a chat or simply came through the gates — you all played a part in making the day a success.

Our little Pencombe Show is growing year by year, and we are incredibly proud that, with the support of our community, it is becoming such a successful and much-loved village tradition.

This is what a community is all about — people coming together, getting involved and supporting one another.

We are holding our 4th show this weekend, everyone is welcome, there are over 70 competitions to enter, tea & cake, Stalls, BBQ, we know the weather is going to be good, so the bar will be open and homemade icecreams to keep you cool, we look forward to seeing you all

The Pencombe show is just around the corner, do you have children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews that would like an afternoon out, we have 23 completions on offer, we have also slightly changed the rules if your young person is over the age of 12 but fancy’s a bigger challenge they may enter the adults comps while forfeiting the junior comps 🍓🍅🥒🥕🌸🍰
