Excellent news, our Giant African Land Snails including our albino Diamond (pictured) have laid a clutch of eggs. These have just started hatching into baby versions.

For those of you that would like to try rearing some they are very easy pets, needing a small tank or container, some compost or substrate, a source of calcium such as cuttlefish bone or eggshells and some food which can be a mix of greens and "snail porridge".

They are super easy to keep and we will be happy to let anyone that wants to give it a go to have half a dozen and rear them on, they normally reach adulthood at about 2 years and grow to several inches in length.

Pop us a PM if you would like some, get your snail accommodation sorted and we can start giving them out in a week or two.

Already our new facilities are being put to good use. The Animal Care Classroom, part of the Clive and Sylvia Richards Vocational Centre hosted nursery students from The HOPE Centre. Our students currently studying Child Development were unable to use the computers and so a session was arranged for the nursery children to come and look, touch and hold some of the animals we have on site.

They saw the Giant African Land Snails, Giant Millipede, Guinea Pigs, Rabbits, Budgerigars, European Tree Frogs, Madagascan Hissing Cockroaches, Chickens, Stick Insects and of course the Bearded Dragons.

We hope to use the facilities donated by Clive and Sylvia Richards for the benefit of our students but also the community so this will be the first of many opportunities for younger children to interact.

QE will be holding a non-uniform day on Friday October 11th to support "Oscar Day".

Many of you may already be aware that a young boy who currently attends Pitmaston Primary School in Worcester, Oscar Saxelby-Lee has T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and needs to raise £500,000 to access treatment not currently available through the NHS.

Where our contribution will be small, we ask all students and staff to donate £1 for the day, can we encourage you all to dig deep and support this family through the channels available on the flyer below. Everything raised will help and the fundraising effort is already well underway.

All at QE wish Oscar and his family the very best at what must be a difficult time.

Please read the following message from one of our Year 11 students, Lauren Weaver, and support her if you can.

Hi my name is Lauren Weaver and I am a year 11 pupil at Queen Elizabeth High School. On behalf of the school, I would like to invite you to our Macmillan Coffee Morning on
Friday 27th September from 11:15, everyone is welcome to attend.
There will be various different types of cakes, refreshments and we will also be doing a raffle. We were very pleased with last year’s outcome the support that was shown and the money raised (over £1000) was incredible, however we would like to make this year’s coffee morning even bigger and better! We are going to do this by having a non-uniform day at St. Peter’s as well as a cake sale after-school at 3:15 so if you are unable to attend the coffee morning you will be able to get a cake from St. Peter’s Bake Sale and donate. I am sure you will agree what an amazing charity Macmillan is.

So if you can please do support in whatever way you are able and help Lauren and her team smash through the £1000 mark yet again.
