Applications for school places in Worcestershire for September 2027 are now open.

Parents and carers should apply if their child is due to start school for the first time, or is transferring to a Middle or High School, in September 2027. The deadline for High School applications is 31 October 2026, while the deadline for Primary, First, Infant, Junior and Middle School applications is 15 January 2027.

When making your three preferences, we strong encourage you include your catchment school as one of your choices. This helps ensure you have the best chance of securing a place at a local school if you are not offered one of your other preferred schools.

Guidance on starting school and moving on to the next stage of education is available at www.worcestershire.gov.uk/schooladmissions.

We hope all the children enjoyed their first week at nursery. This week we have been focusing on transition and the children exploring all the nursery has to offer. The children have been enjoying the inside environment and using the garden in the rain and sunshine. ๐ŸŒงโ˜€๏ธ

This week the children have been exploring 'Sharing a Shell', the book of the week. They have listened to the story, pretended to be water animals, made crabs and worked together to search for shells in the sand at the investigation station. They explored facts about different water animals, number recognition, counting, writing numbers and letters, numbers to quantity, sensory and used tools for a purpose. ๐Ÿš

The children enjoyed learning and joining in with the actions to the songs of the week 'Under the Sea' and 'Marine Mammal Boogie'.

We are pleased to show our new and improved indoor environment following renovations over the summer holidays.

We have had insulation installed and light panelling to create a lighter and warmer space. This will provide a calming atmosphere helping the children to relax and focus on activities.

We have added more soft furnishings around the room to absorb more sound so reducing the loudness and echo in the room. This will further support the childrenโ€™s speech development and improve the well-being of staff and children.

We have also improved the room layout, creating areas the children can explore independently. There is a craft area, role play home corner, role play builders site, small world carpet area, investigation station and a new soft play area. We have incorporated more visuals to support our children with language delays and multi-lingual vocabulary in the areas so all the children have a sense of belonging and the environment represents their home identity.

We are pleased to announce that we have a LifeVac at nursery. All our staff have paediatric first aid and training on how to use the LifeVac. A Life Vac is an emergency backup tool to clear a child's airway if standard first aid (like back blows and chest thrusts) fails or cannot be performed during a choking crisis. It is a non- invasive device that is designed to resolve choking emergencies.

This Summer as a nursery, we will be participating in the spread the happiness challenge of 100 things to do before your 6. We are setting this challenge as physical experiences rather than technology in early childhood are really important to the childrenโ€™s development. The idea is that between all the staff, children and their families we can successfully complete all 100 over the summer holidays. There is a pretty poster that the children can tick off the experiences they have achieved. It would be amazing if as a family you can complete all 100. We would love to see photoโ€™s of the childrenโ€™s experiences on Tapestry.

This week the children have been exploring 'Pig In A Pond', the book of the week. They have listened to the story, made pig models out of playdough, made frozen eton mess and herded balloon pigs back into their pen. The children explored the characters, used their imagination to make a pig, team work to catch the pigs, gross motor skills, sharing, spatial awareness, heavy and light, talked about farming and how to look after pigs. ๐Ÿท๐Ÿฆ†๐Ÿชฟ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐ŸŒพ

On Tuesday and Friday, the children went on a special trip to Avoncroft Museum. We would like to say a massive thankyou to everyone at Avoncroft Museum. The children had a wonderful time and have been talking about it ever since. The children walked safely in pairs, looking after each other. The children saw an over 500 year old wooden house. They looked at how the wooden house was built and put together. The children were really excited to see the windmill and run around it. The children became one with nature and hugged giant trees. At the end of the trip the children had time at the park, balancing and climbing on the equipment.
