What are the benefits of online tutoring over face-to-face tutoring?
1. Less stressful for students. Staying in their own home removes much of the stress that many children feel when coming to a new environment. This means they are likely to start making better progress at an earlier stage in the process.
2. Student resources to hand. It is easier for a student to go and fetch their calculator, geometry kit, homework sheet or school exercise book that they might have forgotten to bring to a face-to-face session. This allows tutors to complete relevant topic sessions at a time which is more helpful for the student.
3. Convenient for parents. Online tutoring sessions in your own home means no more frantic drive across town followed by sitting outside a venue during sessions. You can carry on with your own evening, whether that is cooking the supper, looking after younger children or just enjoying a sneaky glass of wine!
4. Convenient for siblings. If there are several children in the family it can be difficult to organise all of their after-school activities and homework time. Online tuition allows one child to be on their tuition session at the kitchen table while younger children are doing homework or starting their bedtime routine.
5. Safeguarding. Online tutoring means that your child is never unattended with the tutor and you can listen in on the sessions at any time.
6. Larger tutor pool. Not limiting yourself to local tutors that you can attend in person, allows a much greater choice of qualified, experienced tutors to select from.
7. Better use of learning time. Online sessions remove the lost time from arriving, settling down in a physical location and unpacking resources. Students can simply enter their virtual classroom and start learning, thus maximising their tuition time.
While online learning does not suit all students, it may well be worth trying some sessions before you decide that it’s not for you.
