💚 A little ask from me today 💚

If you don’t have time to read the full post, I’d be incredibly grateful if you could at least take a moment to sign the petition. Every signature really does count. We have until 24th September, exactly 20 days to help these girls and anybody else living with FA.

Charlotte (aged 25) and her sister Liv (aged 28) are two incredible ladies from Bromsgrove. They are both living with Friedreich’s Ataxia, whilst also being mums to beautiful young children and sharing their journeys online. Watching the strength, honesty and courage they show as they navigate life with a progressive condition has been truly inspiring. They are doing everything they can to raise awareness and fight for access to treatment. 💚

There is currently a UK Government petition calling for NHS access to Omaveloxolone, a treatment for Friedreich’s Ataxia.

At the moment, the petition has a little over 34,000 signatures, but it needs 100,000 to be considered for debate in Parliament. Every signature really does count. (Petitions - UK Parliament)

Members of the public are always happy to stop and talk to the children.
Today they met a lovely, friendly dog named Oscar. Some were confident enough to throw the ball for him and genuinely enjoyed spending making this little dogs day.

What a lovely way to practise our social skills and learn a little about what makes a good pet owner.

Great day for golf ⛳️

Using our rainbow shapes as the “holes” and a selection of different sized balls, the children could practise their golfing skills while having lots of fun.

The rainbow shapes are all different sizes too, which gave us a lovely opportunity to introduce a little challenge. As their skills and confidence developed, they were aiming for a smaller “hole” and use a smaller ball. Encouraging them to develop their accuracy, control and coordination. 🎯

It was also a fantastic way to get everyone involved in some physical activity on a very wet day! 🌧️

I love seeing where the children’s ideas take us. What started as “Golf?” quickly became a whole child-led sporting activity, with plenty of opportunities for turn-taking, concentration, problem-solving and developing those gross motor skills. 💪🏼

Who needs a golf course when you’ve got a playroom?! ⛳️🌈💚

🌿 EYFS Updates 🌿

Welcome back, I hope you’ve had a wonderful summer ☀️

As we head into a new academic year, there have been some updates to the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, including strengthened requirements around safer sleep.

At Nest & Nurture, the safety, wellbeing and comfort of the children is always at the heart of what I do, so me and Clare's Childcare Limited have taken the opportunity to review our sleep environment and invest in all new sleep equipment to ensure everything is fully compliant with the updated requirements.

For our under 1s, we have checked our travel cots, providing a safe and suitable individual sleep space ensuring the compliance code is present.

We have also invested in new compliant sleep mats, along with individual bedding. And because we believe children should have a voice in their environment, each child has been able to choose their own bedding pattern, which will be theirs to keep and use each time they go to sleep with us 😴

Alongside safer sleep, we have also reviewed the other relevant EYFS updates, including our approach to screen use, safeguarding and suitability, and have made the necessary adjustments to our policies and practice.

A safe space to sleep, a familiar pattern they’ve chosen themselves, and the reassurance that everything has been carefully considered with their wellbeing in mind💚

Mark making is so much more than pen and paper........

🖍️ Every mark tells a story

Long before children begin forming letters, they explore mark making through handprints, scribbles, splodges and messy play. These early experiences help them discover that their movements can create marks with meaning - an important first step towards writing.

As babies and young children realise that their actions can leave marks, they begin to develop the understanding and the skills they will need to become writers.
