The Lokrum Fields team has a few new members. Fire and Smore have been with us for nearly a month and along with Flint and Waffle, our other two guinea pigs, are proving extremely popular for students to visit during sensory breaks.

As well as being a brilliant way of facilitating relaxed social interaction, the animals at Lokrum Fields are great for teaching students about caring relationships, responsibility, planning, and budgeting.

Our planning application to change the use of a bungalow in Stoulton to create another school like Lokrum Fields is now live.

This provision will give more students like those at Lokrum Fields the opportunity to access education in a small, calm, nurturing and sensory-friendly environment with specialist teaching and integrated therapy.

If this is something you feel like your child would benefit from or you or someone you know would have benefitted from, it would be great if you could tell your stories on the planning portal.

Teaching sessions at Lokrum Fields are divided into two 25 minute sessions. Students can use the break between these sessions to access the sensory rooms, outdoor spaces, and other areas to help them self-regulate and access our academic offer.

Taster visits are the final stage in our Admissions process. They are planned carefully in advance with the potential student and their family to give them the opportunity to find out what it's like to be student at Lokrum Fields in a low-pressure way, doing activities they enjoy.

Our planning application to change the use of an office building in Sambourne to create a sixth form centre is now live.

The sixth form provision will give Lokrum Fields students and others with a similar profile the opportunity to study GCSEs and A-levels in a small, calm, nurturing and sensory-friendly environment.

We are delighted to have broken ground on the conversion of our outbuildings. The building which was previously a home office will now house a music room, a second accessible bathroom, and a small animal room, and the stables will be split into a science/art room and a gym with exercise machines.

We're really excited about the benefits to our students of having more specialised learning spaces.

We love to watch all of the different birds that visit the trees in the garden at Lokrum Fields. We couldn't find this one in the bird book though!

Our staff recently had a lovely remote wellbeing session, doing some guided drawing with our new art teacher, Rosie. We were all amazed by what we could create with Rosie's expert help.

Some students have been doing these sessions as part of our admissions assessment process too.
