Coram PACEY PACEY is the Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years. PACEY is always here for you.

We are a professional association dedicated to supporting home-based childcare professionals including childminders and nannies to provide high quality services, information and advice to children, their families and carers. Formed in 1977, we are a charity dedicated to supporting everyone working in childcare and early years to provide high quality care and early learning for children and families. We provide training, practical help, expert advice and represent the views and experiences of practitioners working throughout England and Wales, to champion their vital role in helping prepare children for a bright future. With more than 40 years' experience, you can be sure that PACEY membership is by your side with everything you need to power your practice, build your business, and feel protected and reassured.

✨ Coram PACEY helps to create free SEND training for childminders✨

As a childminder, you know that every child is unique. Having the confidence and knowledge to support children with additional needs can make a huge difference to their wellbeing, development and sense of belonging.

Yesterday, we hosted a roundtable discussion with the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) and nine childminders from our Insight Panel. The CMA is conducting a market study of the early years and childcare system in England. We submitted our evidence in the call for views back in July, and have been supporting the CMA to understand the key challenges facing childminders.

This was a unique opportunity for childminders to share what it's like working as a childminder, what their biggest challenges and barriers are, and how the system could work better to support them.

The discussion delved into a wide range of topics, including:
🔴Childminders’ experience delivering the Early Years Entitlement funding.
🔴The financial impact of three-and-four-year-old funding rates.
🔴Inconsistencies in practice and funding flexibilities across local authorities.
🔴The unfair rule preventing childminders from claiming funding for related children.
🔴Including childminders in government initiatives and communications.
🔴The unique benefits of childminding for children and families.

Yesterday the Home-Based Childcare Awards 2026 opened for entries and we have been delighted by the excitement already.

With 10 categories this year, including four new, these awards are set to be the biggest yet. For the first time this year we will be hosting a small drinks reception at the Coram Campus in London to celebrate entree and announce winners. Make sure to book your free place.
