Why are Kumon students encouraged to do calculations without writing carries and borrows? Calculating without carries is the most efficient method as it enables students to develop the calculation skills that they need for more complex topics.

"My name is Dhivya Chandrasekaran and I am the instructor at Kumon Downham Study Centre.

After completing my Masters in Cell Molecular Biology, I have been working in the Science and Research industry for 13 years in technical roles, guiding students and actively participating in research development.

I believe that every child is unique and by nurturing them in the right environment, they will be able to develop, perform and achieve their fullest potential. My team and I will work with the children by encouraging them, identifying their strengths and weaknesses, and supporting them to realise their maximum potential. I have experienced Kumon as a parent, and I am now excited to embark on this journey as a Kumon instructor.
