Christmas celebrations have been in full swing at Knights Primary over the past week! On Friday we had our Christmas lunch! Paper hats from the Christmas crackers were a big hit with all!

Over the past few weeks the Junior Leaders at Knights Primary have been raising money for the Royal British Legion by selling Poppies. Then on Friday we held a Remembrance Assembly, welcoming back Rev Nick Walsh and hearing some poems from students as well as hearing from our own veteran Ray Hughes.

Today we have been celebrating Harvest at Knights Primary. The School council have worked hard with the help of all pupils and families to bring together donations for Whitefoot and Downham Project.

We have been very lucky at Knights Primary this week as we have been very lucky to have some ducklings hatch and stay with us. The children in nursery have been able to closely keep an eye on the eggs as they stay warm in their incubator and slowly hatch. At the time of posting we have 3 little ducklings who have already hatched! 🐥 🐣

This Term, Year 3 have enjoyed their Science topic: Forces.
We found things around us to identify opportunities to use the forces 'push' and 'pull' . Tug of war was a great activity to allow the class to understand balanced and unbalanced forces in action!

Year 5 have been working as a class to plan and implement a Social Youth Action Project to create better friendships at school. All ideas and constructs of the project are done by the children and we can't wait to see our project in action!

Reception are learning about ‘growth’ this term. We read ‘Jasper’s Beanstalk’ who then posted us a letter with some exciting seeds, pots and soil. The children planted their own bean and discussed how tall it might grow. We learnt about the life cycle of a bean and sequenced the pictures.

To celebrate British Science week the whole school completed fun practical experiments focused around 'making connections'. All the pupils also started a poster entry for the national poster competition. Do encourage them to finish these at home as the best entries will win prizes and be submitted for consideration by the national judges.

We are evacuees on the move! Year 6 thouroughly enjoyed their immersove evacuation day. They took part in air-raid drills, experienced being selected at the billeting office and designed their own air raid shelters.

Last week Year 3 visited Horniman Museum to seek out ancient artifacts and find out more about what life was like in the Stone and Bronze Age.

Reception and Nursery have been learning about ‘people in our community who help us.’ We had a visit from some paramedics who helped us to learn all about their job and how they help people to feel better. They let us look around their ambulance and listen to the sirens too!
