🐝 Buzzing with Excitement: A Visit from Beekeeping Grandparents! 🍯
This week, we were delighted to welcome two special visitors into our school—a husband-and-wife beekeeping team who also happen to be the proud grandparents of one of the children in our class!
As passionate hobbyist beekeepers, they brought along a glass observation hive filled with real bees, giving the children a rare opportunity to safely watch the hive in action. The pupils were fascinated as they spotted the queen bee and learnt about the incredible teamwork within a hive and the importance of bees in pollinating our plants and crops.
The couple also brought in fresh honeycomb and demonstrated how honey is carefully cut and spun using traditional equipment. The children were enthralled by the process and amazed to see the golden honey pouring out.
It was a truly hands-on, sensory experience that brought our learning to life—and left us all with a newfound appreciation for these tiny but mighty creatures. A heartfelt thank you to our visiting grandparents for their time, knowledge, and generosity!

Last Tuesday Maple class travelled to Fladbury to learn how to row a bell-boat. After initially getting thoroughly soaked by torrential rain, we put on our lifejackets and divided into the three bell-boats. Bell-boats are double kayaks that are very stable and accommodate 12 people.
Our fantastic instructor Karen, instructed us on how to row , turn, stop and steer but unfortunately Mrs Bayliss' and Mrs Terefenko's boat did have steering problems, and we saw a lot of wildlife up close! We went through the lock ( which was really exciting ) and past the weir and down to the Jubilee bridge. After returning to the boat house for lunch, we then learnt how to stand up paddle and we had a race. It was a fantastic day, everyone persevered (despite sore arms )and had a go !even the sun came out in the end🌧☀️🚣
