A huge thank you to everyone who joined in today by wearing red, white and blue, or your favourite football kits, to show support for England ahead of tonight’s semi-final! It’s been a fantastic day in school, with a real buzz of excitement and team spirit across our school community. Thank you for helping to create such a fun atmosphere and for getting behind the team.

Come on England! 🦁🦁🦁 Kick-off is at 8pm tonight – we’ll be cheering them on all the way!

A big congratulations to Annabelle in Year 8 who attended a competition in Nottingham with her bellringing team of 6. They represented the Sailsbury Guild, for the Ringing world youth contest! Annabelle did fantastically well in the competition, this was the first time as a team that they competed together! Out of the 8 competing teams Annabelle's team placed 5th. Well done Annabelle and good luck for future competitions!

We always love to hear about the fantastic successes of our pupils here at Broadstone Middle School.

A huge congratulations to two of our up and coming golfers!
Sophie Chapman in Year 6 and Luc Taylor in Year 7.

Sophie recently competed in the Tidworth Garrison Junior open and she won The Bayne Plate after an exceptional round winning by 15 stableford points! This weekend Sophie continued to put her golfing ability to the test in the Cyril Nash county competition as a part of a team representing Sturminster Marshall GC. She came away with 2nd place overall and her team won! This means they will compete in the national finals which is held at Woodhall spa next month. We wish her all the very best of luck and look forward to hearing more about Sophie's future golf outcomes.

Luc has continued to make great strides in the golfing world! He recently competed as the YOUNGEST EVER qualifying entrant into the Dorset County Mens golf competition at Rushmore Golf Club. Luc put in an incredible performance (in 36 degree heat!) and we are incredbly proud of his achievements. Luc is currently playing in the Junior World Championships in California, we wish him the best of luck and look forward to hearing all about his experience.

We have now received further guidance as well as reviewed the day with staff.

We have taken the difficult decision to close the school tomorrow (Thursday 25th June).

We know that this will cause some parents some challenges and we apologise for this. As you know we always try and remain open at all times to support our families.

We will be open on Friday for Transfer day as planned

Year 6 have continued to have an amazing time in London - exploring the Tower of London, a cool walk in the shade along Embankment and a boat cruise along the Thames. We made the difficult decision to bring them home early this evening following an increased weather warning and wanting to prioritize the health and wellbeing of our pupils and staff. They have all been incredible throughout and now enjoying a relaxed air con ride home.

Year 6 have had an amazing first day on their London Residential! They have visited London Zoo and been on the London Eye. The pupils have stayed hydrated throughout the day and taken extra breaks in the shade to stay as cool as possible in this hot weather. The pupils have been brilliant today and a credit to the school community!

❗Important changes are coming to Free School Meals from September 2026. All parents and carers who think their child may be entitled to Free School Meals for 2026/27 must apply or reapply through Dorset Council. This includes families whose children currently receive Free School Meals and those families that live in the BCP catchment area.

Dorset Council advises that applications can be made from 1 June 2026. Current entitlements will not automatically continue into September, so families must reapply and send the confirmation notification to school.

Apply here: https://www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/w/free-school-meals There are two possible outcomes: Targeted Free School Meals and Expanded Free School Meals. These affect whether additional support such as Pupil Premium may also apply.
