Short story long….
Joyce and I are a bit suspicious of unannounced parcels due to glitter bombs and other distressing packages tracked back to an abusive ex-tenant (IYKYK), so when Mr Posty rang the doorbell at 9.30 yesterday with a fairly small but hefty parcel addressed to me I was a little chairy….
Imagine my relief, then delight when very gentle poking with a sharp knife revealed a congratulations present from Get Smart Accountants! Thank you so much! You really go above and beyond.
You see, I have been shortlisted in the Inspiring Entrepreneur category of the National Business Awards, run by Entrepreneurs Circle.
I am stunned, humbled and delighted. I’m tempted to say that what I do and how I do it is nothing special, but I know that is the lie too many female entrepreneurs tell themselves. I pour my heart, soul, and often my sleep into every piece of research, writing, editing and student support I undertake. I’m working on growing the business and soon won’t be able to do it on my own, but the aim is to build a team of experts, and I will never stop overseeing, matching and quality assuring everything we do.
What makes me inspiring I suppose, is that I am perfectly honest about the levels of chaos I have to manage, along with many other female entrepreneurs (and some male and non-binary ones too). We’ve suffered 5 bereavements in the last two years, we’ve dealt with grief, executorships and health scares, caring responsibilities and very little respite, but we keep trucking and we don’t settle.
I do all this with Joyce CoomberSewell who is my inspiration and partner in crime. We run our businesses separately, but we fight the fights and live the life together.
