The critically acclaimed Will Butterworth trio is playing at Broadhempston Village Hall this Friday (10/7) - buy your tickets before it’s too late!!

With Nick Pini on bass and Pete Ibbetson on Drums the Will Butterworth trio has built an international reputation for it's melodic, swinging and adventurous interpretations of jazz standards and the migaical tunes of Great American Song Book. Expect beautiful melodies, and modern harmony, set against swinging and propulsive rhythms.

The trios music is regularly heard on Jazz FM and Jazz on Radio 3.

Nick Pini is a world class double basist who plays across the world music of the highest standard in many genres. Working regularly with UK jazz giants Iain Ballamy, Jermey Stacey and also big names in the world of folk and pop such as Laura Marling, Ethan Johns, Nick Mulvey, Tom Jones.

He is riveting to watch! Do not miss this chance to hear him in an intimate setting.

Pete Ibbetson is a multi instrumentalist who has played drums with the contemporary greats of the music but has also composed electronic music and released solo piano improvised albums. A unique talent and one of the most musical and creative drummers of his generation.

Can anyone please help with future jazz events at the Hall?

We’re looking for someone who can put in a few hours helping to make this regular village event keep on happening.

Tasks can include ..,

- helping with publicity (posters, leaflets, social media etc)
- helping set up the hall on the evening and clearing up after
- helping run the bar

There’s nothing very arduous, we just need occasional help to make sure we can keep putting on these increasingly popular events. Everything is voluntary and any profits we make, after paying the musicians, goes to the Hall.

We specially need help for our fifth anniversary gig which is on 18th September. It’s Simon Spillett, internationally renowned tenor sax player, who played at our first gig 5 years ago.

With less than two weeks to go, tickets for La Vie en Rose, at Broadhempston Village Hall, are selling out fast - don’t miss out - book yours now!

Based in Exeter, these outstanding musicians have wide-ranging individual backgrounds in classical music, traditional jazz, rock, blues, country, ragtime and roots, all drawn together by the shared pleasure of playing gypsy jazz and hot swing.

The band has performed to critical acclaim at festivals such as Dart Music Festival, Upton Jazz, Bude Jazz, Jazz Jurassica, Budleigh Music Festival, and to sell-out audiences at numerous arts centres including Bridport, TCAT, Ilminster, Taunton CIC, jazz clubs and for three years running at The Royal Albert Hall's 'Verdi Italian Kitchen' for their prestigious Valentine's Day event.

They have built a reputation for their mix of ‘Hotclub’ favourites, jazz standards, soulful ballads, Latin swing, the occasional film theme and classical score! Toe-tapping rhythms and virtuoso melody lines combine in a performance with a verve and joy that makes this music irresistible.
