Perso

nal and social development, well-being and cultural diversity: This is at the heart of everything we do in playgroup. We encourage the children to be independent motivated learners through small and whole group play-based activities. Our topics allow us to make the children aware of the diversity of cultures and traditions in wales. We aim to develop positive caring attitudes within the children towards their environment and others. Language, Literacy and communication skills: Throughout their time in play group the children are immersed in language experiences and activities through rhymes, stories, discussions and more structured table top activities. We have a role-play area for children to use, a quiet area to share a book and opportunities always available for writing and drawing. Mathematical development: Through table top activities and displays children can begin to solve real-life problems using both indoors and outdoors. During their time with us children develop their understanding of measure using the sand and water table, shape through the use of jigsaws and simple patterns using pegboards. Welsh language development: The children in playgroup are given the opportunity to use Welsh on a daily basis and the displays use both English and Welsh signs to encourage the children to progress in their language skills. Knowledge and understanding of the world: Through our half termly topics children are encouraged to experience the world around them and to begin to demonstrate care and respect for all lining things and the environment. We encourage healthy eating and recycling in playgroup. Physical development: At playgroup we use both indoors and outdoors to develop the childrenโ€™s motor and manipulative skills. The children have access to both large and small equipment and are encouraged to enjoy physical activity. Creative development: Children at playgroup are encouraged to express themselves creatively through a variety of mediums. We have a craft table, a painting table and play dough for them to create. They are also exposed to a variety of musical styles and encouraged to express themselves through regular dance and movement sessions. These seven areas of learning represent the foundation phase of childrenโ€™s education from age 3 to 7. They have been developed by the Welsh assembly to support the development of children and their skills. They are designed to complement each other and provide a practical cross-curricular approach to your childโ€™s education. More information about the foundation phase can be found at: www.wales.gov.uk. Contact Details

๐Ÿ“ฃ The 2026 fledging season is upon us and our posters will be appearing across Pembrokeshire over the next few days as we promote our Manx Shearwater Rescue hotline.

๐Ÿ‘€ Please do keep your eyes peeled over the next month or so for young Manxies that might become stranded on land.

๐Ÿ’ก Please help us encourage anyone living near the cost to ensure their curtains are closed when it's dark outside and if possible to switch off outside lights to help reduce artificial light attracting young birds landwards.

๐Ÿค We really hope local businesses, community councils and organisations will support us again this year, especially in areas like Newgale, Broad Haven, Solva, Little Haven, St Davids but also in Haverfordwest, Milford, Pembroke Dock and elsewhere around the county.

๐Ÿ’จ โ›ˆ๏ธWe've got some cheeky weather inbound soon so please do help us spread the word!

Follow us on Facebook to hear how the season goes and the amazing work of our volunteers.

Huge thanks to Eco Dewi , The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales - WTSWW & RSPB Cymru for their continued support this year.

Why not have a go at making your own projector so you can watch the solar eclipse on Wednesday safely?
Itโ€™s well worth it, as we wonโ€™t get to see another eclipse until 2087, and I donโ€™t know about you, but Iโ€™m going to be very, very old by that point ๐Ÿ™ˆโ˜บ๏ธ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒš๏ฟผ๏ฟผ๏ฟผ
