On Thursday I ran a ‘time to move’ class with What’s next? For Women. Six people booked and paid, two turned up. One was the host/my stepmum, the other my mum.
It’s disappointing, hits you a little in a sore spot and makes you kinda question what your value is in this space but I genuinely had the loveliest time working a bit more 1-1, taking them through the postures we were going to work with, giving them chance to take their time, ask me anything they wanted and have a little play around.
The yoga industry feels like a tougher space than it once was, like we have to fight a little harder to ‘sell’ our classes, we have to be working with the algorithm on Instagram to get people here and I just don’t want that to be where my time is spent. I don’t want to feel like the reason someone came to my class is because I chose the right colour for my Instagram font.

I’m trying to find my place, what is it I want people to feel, why do I teach, what do I want people to get, why do we move the way we move. I want that to be the heart of why people show up with me, and I am so incredibly grateful for the group that already choose my classes each week.
Im not 100% sure exactly what this post is for but I liked the special moments with my mum and they deserved a place alongside some of the thoughts in my head. 🤍

When was the last time you did something just for your benefit?
As we get older, maintaining our strength, flexibility and balance becomes more important than ever, yet many women will say they feel nervous about joining exercise classes, worry they won’t be able to keep up, or simply don’t know where to start.

I’m partnering with ‘What’s next? For women’, to bring you a 45 minute class designed to move gently, have a wobble and learn about the importance of balance, gentle strength and looking after ourselves as we get older. No complicated routines, no pressure and no judgement. Just simple, feel good movement in a calm and welcoming environment.

I planned for this to be a voiceover reel about the moments before my yoga class but it ended up being a softer video, showing the joyful mundane, the quiet bits that we take for granted each day and forget to be grateful for.
Postpartum hormones are wild and I definitely wasn’t feeling my best self emotionally so although I’m glad the sun made an appearance, I’m grateful for the softness of a drizzly Monday. 🤍

I’m trying very hard to keep that holiday-esque vibe going, slow coffee in the morning, trying not to make every moment the baby sleeps productive.
We’re so used to reaching for the harder pose, believing rest has to be earned.
But slowing down, breathing in child’s pose, resting simply because - this is what settles the system and allows peace to arrive.

Joy is a huge theme of my life this year and it feels so nice to feel it again after losing that spark for so long. Of course there are hard days, but I try my best to return to the good, to return to the joy that I wished so hard for. Life truly is so short and giving myself space to feel the bad when it comes but then picking myself up again is a gift I keep trying to give myself. 🤍
