For many leaders, founders, HR professionals and people-development practitioners, coaching skills change the quality of everyday conversations.

This month a handful of places remain for the next edition October edition of ICF L1 ACC The Birth of a Coach.

This photograph of me coaching Lilith captures something that sits at the heart of Evolution Coaching Academy: coaching is a practice, not simply a body of knowledge.

Throughout the programme, you will coach, be coached, observe, reflect and receive detailed feedback. Across four modules, we move from Coaching Essence through Client is Leader and Client in Relationship to Client in Team—building the presence, skill and ethical grounding needed for professional coaching.

The ICF Level 1 accredited programme includes:

• 72 hours of coach-specific education
• 10 hours of mentor coaching
• Feedback on three recorded coaching sessions
• The ICF ACC Performance Evaluation

It begins live online, in English, on 22 October 2026 and runs through to March 2027.

Investment: ÂŁ2,990, all inclusive - monthly installments welcome.

It is designed for aspiring professional coaches, as well as experienced leaders, HR and People professionals, consultants and mentors who want to bring greater depth and confidence to their coaching.

Accredited coach-training programmes can be difficult to compare.

Here is what is included in The Birth of a Coach, Evolution Coaching Academy’s complete ICF Level 1 education programme:

• 72 hours of coach-specific education
• 10 hours of mentor coaching: seven group and three individual
• Observation and personalised feedback on three recorded coaching sessions
• ICF ACC Performance Evaluation
• Four live, interactive training modules
• Group mentor coaching
• Learner manuals, coaching tools and practice between modules

Successful completion provides the ICF Level 1 education certificate required for the ACC Level 1 pathway. Coaches must also complete the wider ICF credential requirements, including the required coaching log.

I am delivering the next eiditon live online from October 2026 to March 2027.

The moment captured in this photograph isn’t me giving Lilith an answer.

It is me partnering in a coaching conversation.

One of the most demanding shifts in learning to coach is becoming less eager to demonstrate our own usefulness.

Most experienced professionals have been rewarded for knowing, advising and solving.

Coaching asks us to develop another capability:

To notice the impulse to offer an answer.
To remain curious a little longer.
To listen for what has not yet been said.
To trust the client’s capacity to think.
To ask only what serves their exploration.

That can sound straightforward on paper. It feels very different when someone pauses in front of you and you believe you know what might help.

On our ICF L1 The Birth of a Coach programme, we don’t simply discuss this distinction. Students practise it, observe it in others and receive direct feedback on their own coaching.

What actually happens on The Birth of a Coach, our ICF L1 ACC coach training programme?

This small cohort experiential programme is designed as a deliberate learning journey, rather than a collection of coaching techniques.

Coaching Essence
Developing the foundations: mindset, ethics, presence, listening and the nature of coaching.

Client is Leader
Learning to move away from fixing, advising and taking responsibility for someone else’s thinking.

Client in Relationship
Working with what emerges between coach and client, including emotion, patterns, values and the wider context.

Client in Team
Exploring coaching involving sponsors, stakeholders, relationships and organisational systems.

Between the modules, students coach real people, reflect on their practice and bring three recorded conversations into individual mentor-coaching sessions for direct feedback.

By the time we reach group mentor coaching in March, coaching is no longer something students have simply read about. It is something they have practised, observed, reflected upon and begun to embody.

The next live Evolution Coaching Academy L1 online programme begins on 22 October.

What if your next professional chapter isn’t about leaving your experience behind — it’s about learning to use it differently?

Many people who become coaches don’t begin with a lifelong ambition to be “a coach”.

They begin with a growing awareness that they are drawn to deeper conversations.

They notice that colleagues already turn to them when something difficult needs to be thought through.

They want their work to have greater meaning, or to bring a more human quality to the leadership, HR, consulting or development work they already do.

Some want to build a coaching practice. Others want to become more skilful and intentional in the work they already undertake.

On 22 October, I’ll be leading the next online edition of The Birth of a Coach, Evolution Coaching Academy’s ICF Level 1 programme.

It is a practical and developmental programme: around 80% practice, supported by feedback, mentoring and a thorough grounding in the ICF Core Competencies.

You don’t need to have decided exactly where coaching will take you.

Curiosity may be enough to begin the conversation.
