In the video (accessible by clicking on the LinkedIn link below) Ellen describes how she came home in April 2022 and found her son, Jools, unconscious. She has no idea why he ended his life.
So Ellen has started this petition because she wants “parents/guardians to have the right to be given access to their children's social media accounts, by social media providers, both when the child is alive and if they are deceased.”
At the time of writing this post over 60,001 signatures have been added to the petition and it’s constantly increasing, by the minute.
There’s a push to get to 100,000 so that it will be considered for debate in Parliament.
However, because of the upcoming general election, the petition will have to close at 00:01am on 30th May.
Please sign this petition to ensure that doesn’t fall off the agenda because the election date has been set.
This could protect all living children and in the case of families like Jool’s, it could help them find answers about to why their precious child is no longer alive.
