This morning, our squishy Swimkidz Sharky enjoyed another fun trip to the pool! πŸ¦ˆπŸ’™

He sat patiently waiting in a chair before diving into the pool and enjoying some lovely cuddles with Freddie. Then it was time to sit on the mat with Grayson & Penny and join in all the poolside excitement. After a quick shower and a spin in the drying machine, Sharky was all fresh and dry, ready to hop back in the car for the journey home.

Another fantastic Swimkidz adventure for our little shark! πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈβœ¨

🌊 Drowning Prevention Week is the perfect reminder that one simple skill can save a life.

From our baby lessons right through to our stage lessons, we teach children to β€œMonkey, Monkey, Monkey to Safety” πŸ΅πŸ’™

This vital water safety skill helps children learn to hold on to the pool edge and move along it until they reach a safe exit point. It’s a simple technique that builds confidence, independence, and could make all the difference in an emergency.

Today, Grayson & Penny showed us exactly how it’s done, demonstrating fantastic determination and water safety awareness. We are so proud of them! πŸ‘πŸŠβ€β™€οΈπŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ

Teaching children how to stay safe in and around water is one of the most important lessons they will ever learn, and we’re committed to reinforcing these lifesaving skills at every stage of their swimming journey.

It’s rebooking time again, and while we’re excited to welcome swimmers for another term, it also means saying goodbye to some very special families. πŸ’™

A huge thank you to Rachel & Dan, who have been part of our swimming family for the last 9 years. We said goodbye to Isla in July last year, and now we’ll be saying goodbye to Katy this July as she moves on to her next adventure.

It’s hard to put into words how much it means to have families stay with us for so many years. We’ve had the privilege of teaching both girls since they were babies, watching them grow in confidence, skill, and personality both in and out of the water.

Thank you, Rachel & Dan, for your lovely words, your continued support, and for trusting us with such an important part of your girls’ journey. It’s been an absolute pleasure to be part of their swimming story, and we are so proud of everything they have achieved.

While we’re sad to say goodbye, we know they’ll always be part of our swimming family, and we wish them every success and happiness for the future. πŸŠβ€β™€οΈβœ¨

β˜€οΈ 71% of child drownings occurred between May and August. β˜€οΈ

As the weather gets warmer and families spend more time near water, the risk of drowning increases significantly.

During Drowning Prevention Week, we’re reminding everyone to stay vigilant and put water safety first this summer.

πŸ’™ Always supervise children near water
πŸ’™ Choose lifeguarded swimming areas where possible
πŸ’™ Teach children about the dangers of open water
πŸ’™ Learn what to do in an emergency

A safe summer starts with awareness. 🌊

πŸ’™ Drowning Prevention Week πŸ’™

As part of Drowning Prevention Week, the team at Swimkidz is proud to be teaching vital lifesaving skills alongside swimming ability.

Niki’s Stage 6 class learnt how to safely roll a casualty from a face-down position onto their back in the water before rescuing them to safety. This essential skill helps to keep the airway clear and is a key step in a successful rescue.

The class showed fantastic focus, confidence, and teamwork as they practised these important techniques. At Swimkidz, we believe that learning how to stay safe in and around water is just as important as learning to swim.

By equipping our swimmers with lifesaving knowledge and practical rescue skills, we’re helping to build confidence and prepare them to respond in an emergency.

Well done to everyone in Stage 6 – we’re so proud of you! πŸ‘πŸŠβ€β™€οΈπŸš¨

⚠️ 83% of all accidental drownings in 2024 were male. ⚠️

Water safety affects everyone, but statistics show that men and boys are disproportionately at risk around water.

As we support Drowning Prevention Week, it’s important to raise awareness and encourage safer choices around open water.

🌊 Respect the water
🌊 Avoid taking unnecessary risks
🌊 Never swim alone
🌊 Be prepared for cold water shock
🌊 Learn lifesaving and rescue skills

One decision can save a life. πŸ’™
