Manor House Nursery provides childcare of the highest standard in a rich and stimulating environment. We look forward to meeting you.

Our recipe for success has always been very simple; we strive to offer each individual child every opportunity to explore new experiences within a framework of responsible behaviour, encouraged by praise, recognition, love and security. True to its age and its name, what you will notice when you enter Manor House are lots of traditional features and acres of space. Unlike many nurseries, our child

Taking risks in a safe environment builds confidence and teaches valuable life skills, including cognitive, physical, social and emotional skills. At Manor House we encourage our children to take risks, recently with adequate supervision the children have been able to climb trees, balance on objects in the garden and use real tools. It is so lovely to see how much delight the children show when they have succeeded.

We love waterplay at Manor House, with the warm weather it has been the perfect way to keep cool and have lots of fun! It offers a great sensory experience and can offer numerous ways to support a child’s holistic development. When we allow our children to explore water safely it encourages them to develop and strengthen their gross and fine motor skills, as well as improving their hand-eye co-ordination. Through lifting cups full of water, pouring water and splashing they are working on their gross motor skills. Squeezing water out of a sponge or through a syringe will help to develop the small muscles in a child’s hands, which strengthens their fine motor skills and supports early writing skills. ☀️

Children in the Carousel have been learning about the lifecycle of a butterfly, this week we have had our butterfly hatching kit delivered. The children have been very excited to come into nursery and look for any changes. This has sparked many discussions about caterpillars, eggs, and butterflies and some children have been creating their own pictures.🐛

Establishing partnerships within our local community is something we value at Manor House. It supports children’s social and emotional development as well as their understanding of the world around them. Today some of the children were able to visit the residents at Trym -View Hall. We took stories to share with them and joined them for a drink and a snack. They even took us to see their outside environment where the children were very excited to see the chickens! We are very excited that we will get to share experiences with the residents at Trym-View Hall each week.

☘️ Happy St Patrick’s Day! ☘️

St Patrick’s day is a cultural celebration and holiday celebrated on the 17th of March. The celebration commemorates the patron saint and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland.

This week in Manor House our children have been having many discussions about the day and the many things people celebrating do. We have also created our own Shamrock prints.

At Manor House we love to explore the outdoors, we are very lucky to have a large outdoor space that all our children can access in all weathers.
Come rain or shine our children can explore all outside areas every day. Based upon the children’s interests our practitioners create activities to extend each child’s learning.
Outdoor experiences can provide an opportunity to explore, discover and appreciate the natural world, as well as be physical, active, strengthen fine and gross motor skills, develop communication and friendships as well as getting messy and have lots of fun!

Last week throughout Manor House we have all been celebrating Diwali. Diwali is one of the largest festivals celebrated as part of the Hindu religion and celebrations span over five days, with one main festival night. We feel it is important to offer all children the opportunity to celebrate and learn about a variety of different cultures. We have been exploring coloured rice with our younger children, whilst our older children have been creating Diya lamps.

The children have shown a great interest in Remembrance Day, we have been creating beautiful pictures of Poppy’s, as well as discussing what we know about Remembrance Day. “I will wear a poppy for my daddy’s grandad who died in the war” said one child as he proudly created his own poppy. Talking about Remembrance Day has provided lots of conversation amongst the children, which has helped to develop their understanding of this day.
