πŸš— DRIVING MOCK TEST REPORT

Test: Mock Test One
Candidate: (Sh)
Date: Saturday 13th
Time: 13:09
Location: Avonmouth
Result: ❌ FAIL
❌ SERIOUS FAULTS

(Faults that pose risk or show lack of safe control)

1. Lane discipline at roundabout
Issue: Incorrect lane chosen to follow the road ahead.

2. Lane discipline at roundabout
Issue: Again positioned in the wrong lane. This could mislead other road users and cause conflict.

3. Gear selection
Issue: Changed into the wrong gear, leading to uncertainty and loss of smooth control.
⚠️ MINOR FAULTS

(Areas needing improvement, not dangerous yet)

1. Car control in car park
Issue: Did not stop and secure the vehicle promptly.

2. Braking on hill
Issue: Applied the brake unnecessarily while stationary; did not remain steady.

3. Gear selection & moving off
Issue: Attempted to move off in the wrong gear instead of first gear, causing confusion and hesitation.

4. Parallel parking
Issue: Finished slightly too far from the kerb.

5. Speed management
Issue: Drove at 30 mph in a 20 mph zone (corrected from "4 mph" as this is likely a slip).
πŸ—£οΈ INSTRUCTOR FEEDBACK FOR SH
Hello Sh,

Thank you for your effort today. Unfortunately, this mock test resulted in a fail because of the serious faults recorded β€” these are the issues that would cause a real test to be terminated. Let’s go through everything clearly so you know exactly what to work on.
βœ… WHAT TO FIX β€” LANE DISCIPLINE

β€œAt roundabouts, you must choose the correct lane well before you arrive. Look at the road signs and markings early β€” they will tell you which lane to take for your direction. If you pick the wrong lane, you can confuse other drivers and even cause a collision. Slow down in good time, check your mirrors, and position yourself correctly. If you are unsure, stay in the left lane unless signs say otherwise β€” never guess.”
βœ… WHAT TO FIX β€” GEAR SELECTION

β€œGears are there to help you control speed and power. When moving off, always use first gear β€” this is the only gear that gives you enough power to pull away smoothly. Changing into the wrong gear or trying to move off in a higher gear makes the car stall or jerk, and it makes you unsure of what you’re doing. Practise changing gears in a quiet area until it feels automatic β€” you should never have to think hard about which gear you need.”
βœ… WHAT TO FIX β€” SPEED CONTROL

β€œAlways check the speed limit signs. In built-up areas, the limit is often 20 or 30 mph β€” today you drove at 30 mph in a 20 mph zone. Going too fast means you cannot react quickly enough to hazards. Remember: speed limits are the maximum allowed, not a target. Adjust your speed to match the road signs and conditions.”
βœ… WHAT TO FIX β€” PARKING & CONTROL

β€œIn the car park, you need to stop smoothly and apply the handbrake firmly before you take your foot off the brake pedal. When stopped on a hill, keep the car still using the handbrake, not the foot brake β€” this avoids unnecessary braking and keeps the car steady. For parallel parking, aim to finish within 15cm of the kerb; being too far out makes you an obstacle to pedestrians and other vehicles.
πŸ“ SUMMARY

β€œYou have shown you can steer and manoeuvre, but the main things holding you back are planning ahead, choosing the right gear, and reading road signs clearly. With practice, these will become second nature. Let’s focus on roundabouts, gear work, and speed limits in our next lesson β€” you will see the difference quickly.”
Next step: Practise gear changes and roundabout procedures in quiet areas first, then build up to busier roads.

DRIVING MOCK TEST REPORT

Candidate Name: (A)
Date: Wednesday, 3rd June 2026
Time: 16:03
Test Number: Mock One
Location: Avonmouth
❌ SERIOUS FAULT

Failure to proceed when appropriate at a green traffic light
You did not move off when the traffic light turned green. As the instructor, I had to intervene and instruct you to proceed safely.
⚠️ MINOR FAULTS

1. Observation – Right reverse manoeuvre
Insufficient observation while performing the right reverse. You failed to stop and give way to an oncoming vehicle.

2. Positioning – Near parked vehicles
You drove too close to parked cars. You are expected to maintain a minimum safe distance of approximately 1 metre from stationary vehicles.

3. Signalling – Lane change
You did not signal before changing lanes. Signalling clearly informs other road users of your intended actions.

4. Signalling – Early indication
You signalled too early when intending to turn left. There was another junction before your intended turn, which could have confused other road users.

5. Progress – Hesitation
You showed unnecessary hesitation. When a safe gap in oncoming traffic appeared to turn right, you did not proceed when it was safe to do so.
