๐ MOCK TEST REPORT โ 1
Candidate: C
Date: Monday 29th
Time: 09:21
Location: Avonmouth
Result: โ FAILED
Reason: Multiple serious faults and minor faults
โ ๏ธ SERIOUS FAULTS
1. Observation & Manoeuvring
Original issue: Undue to observation before begin to perform the right reverse manoeuvre.
Corrected: Insufficient observation before starting the right reverse manoeuvre.
Comment: You did not check your surroundings properly before beginning the reverse manoeuvre โ this creates risk for other road users.
2. All-round Checks
Original issue: Also do the 7โy point checks before begin to reverse.
Corrected: Failed to complete the 7-point checks before starting to reverse.
Comment: Full all-round observation is required before any slow-speed manoeuvre.
3. Speed Control
Original issue: Undue to speed weariness by acceding the speed limit not being able to maintain 20 mph.
Corrected: Inappropriate speed; exceeded the speed limit and failed to maintain the required 20 mph speed.
Comment: You were driving too fast for the area and could not keep within the limit.
4. Gear Selection & Road Conditions
Original issue: Undue to car control by not able to select appropriate gear for a different road types and conditions.
Corrected: Poor car control; unable to select the correct gear for varying road types and conditions.
Comment: Gears must be matched to the road, gradient, and traffic flow.
5. Stopping & Hill Control
Original issue: Undue to car control by not able to stop the vehicle on junction and leading to rolling back; I had to use the dual control to stop the car.
Corrected: Loss of control when stopping at junctions; the vehicle rolled back, requiring the use of dual controls to bring it to a safe stop.
Comment: This is a serious fault โ you must be able to hold the car stationary on an incline without rolling back.
โน๏ธ MINOR FAULTS
1. Handbrake Operation
Original issue: Undue to hand break by not able to realise the hand break.
Corrected: Failed to release the handbrake fully before moving off.
Comment: Check the dashboard warning light and feel for resistance before pulling away.
2. Gear Selection
Original issue: Undue to the car control by not able to select appropriate gear for the such type of roads and conditions, for example gear 1rs when you kill the speed of the vehicle.
Corrected: Incorrect gear choice for the road and conditions โ e.g., failing to select 1st gear when reducing speed significantly.
Comment: Use lower gears when speed drops to maintain control and avoid stalling.
3. Parking Manoeuvre
Original issue: Undue to poor observation when performing or reposition the forward bay parking.
Corrected: Insufficient observation while carrying out or adjusting position during forward bay parking.
Comment: Keep checking all mirrors and blind spots throughout the manoeuvre.
4. Hill Driving & Clearance
Original issue: Undue to the car control specially on the hill not able to select appropriate gear. Undue to weariness by getting closed to the parked cars.
Corrected: Poor gear selection especially on hills, and positioning too close to parked vehicles.
Comment: Use a lower gear for hills and leave safe space between your car and stationary vehicles.

โSo, in brief: reading the โtraffic lightโ of the road, planning ahead, and anticipating whatโs coming. When passing parked cars, keep a 1-metre distance. If cyclists are riding two abreast, or thereโs a horse riderโฆ I said โhorseโ but it came out sounding like โdogโ โ sorry! We try our best to say โhorseโ ๐๐ the dog ๐ supposed to be a horse ๐rider ๐๐ perhaps could be a dog rider ๐
๐ DRIVING MOCK TEST REPORT
Test: Mock Test One
Candidate: (Sh)
Date: Saturday 13th
Time: 13:09
Location: Avonmouth
Result: โ FAIL
โ SERIOUS FAULTS
(Faults that pose risk or show lack of safe control)
1. Lane discipline at roundabout
Issue: Incorrect lane chosen to follow the road ahead.
2. Lane discipline at roundabout
Issue: Again positioned in the wrong lane. This could mislead other road users and cause conflict.
3. Gear selection
Issue: Changed into the wrong gear, leading to uncertainty and loss of smooth control.
โ ๏ธ MINOR FAULTS
(Areas needing improvement, not dangerous yet)
1. Car control in car park
Issue: Did not stop and secure the vehicle promptly.
2. Braking on hill
Issue: Applied the brake unnecessarily while stationary; did not remain steady.
3. Gear selection & moving off
Issue: Attempted to move off in the wrong gear instead of first gear, causing confusion and hesitation.
4. Parallel parking
Issue: Finished slightly too far from the kerb.
5. Speed management
Issue: Drove at 30 mph in a 20 mph zone (corrected from "4 mph" as this is likely a slip).
๐ฃ๏ธ INSTRUCTOR FEEDBACK FOR SH
Hello Sh,
Thank you for your effort today. Unfortunately, this mock test resulted in a fail because of the serious faults recorded โ these are the issues that would cause a real test to be terminated. Letโs go through everything clearly so you know exactly what to work on.
โ
WHAT TO FIX โ LANE DISCIPLINE
โAt roundabouts, you must choose the correct lane well before you arrive. Look at the road signs and markings early โ they will tell you which lane to take for your direction. If you pick the wrong lane, you can confuse other drivers and even cause a collision. Slow down in good time, check your mirrors, and position yourself correctly. If you are unsure, stay in the left lane unless signs say otherwise โ never guess.โ
โ
WHAT TO FIX โ GEAR SELECTION
โGears are there to help you control speed and power. When moving off, always use first gear โ this is the only gear that gives you enough power to pull away smoothly. Changing into the wrong gear or trying to move off in a higher gear makes the car stall or jerk, and it makes you unsure of what youโre doing. Practise changing gears in a quiet area until it feels automatic โ you should never have to think hard about which gear you need.โ
โ
WHAT TO FIX โ SPEED CONTROL
โAlways check the speed limit signs. In built-up areas, the limit is often 20 or 30 mph โ today you drove at 30 mph in a 20 mph zone. Going too fast means you cannot react quickly enough to hazards. Remember: speed limits are the maximum allowed, not a target. Adjust your speed to match the road signs and conditions.โ
โ
WHAT TO FIX โ PARKING & CONTROL
โIn the car park, you need to stop smoothly and apply the handbrake firmly before you take your foot off the brake pedal. When stopped on a hill, keep the car still using the handbrake, not the foot brake โ this avoids unnecessary braking and keeps the car steady. For parallel parking, aim to finish within 15cm of the kerb; being too far out makes you an obstacle to pedestrians and other vehicles.
๐ SUMMARY
โYou have shown you can steer and manoeuvre, but the main things holding you back are planning ahead, choosing the right gear, and reading road signs clearly. With practice, these will become second nature. Letโs focus on roundabouts, gear work, and speed limits in our next lesson โ you will see the difference quickly.โ
Next step: Practise gear changes and roundabout procedures in quiet areas first, then build up to busier roads.

DRIVING MOCK TEST REPORT
Candidate Name: (A)
Date: Wednesday, 3rd June 2026
Time: 16:03
Test Number: Mock One
Location: Avonmouth
โ SERIOUS FAULT
Failure to proceed when appropriate at a green traffic light
You did not move off when the traffic light turned green. As the instructor, I had to intervene and instruct you to proceed safely.
โ ๏ธ MINOR FAULTS
1. Observation โ Right reverse manoeuvre
Insufficient observation while performing the right reverse. You failed to stop and give way to an oncoming vehicle.
2. Positioning โ Near parked vehicles
You drove too close to parked cars. You are expected to maintain a minimum safe distance of approximately 1 metre from stationary vehicles.
3. Signalling โ Lane change
You did not signal before changing lanes. Signalling clearly informs other road users of your intended actions.
4. Signalling โ Early indication
You signalled too early when intending to turn left. There was another junction before your intended turn, which could have confused other road users.
5. Progress โ Hesitation
You showed unnecessary hesitation. When a safe gap in oncoming traffic appeared to turn right, you did not proceed when it was safe to do so.
