Did you know that our Physics buildings include probably the Quietest building in World?
The Centre for Nanoscience and Quantum Information (NSQI) is intended for tests requiring virtually zero vibrations and air movements.
The low-noise area for engineering and nano-surgery is housed in the basement, where a suite of ultra-low vibration nanoscience laboratories are anchored directly to the underlying rock stratum.

Did you know that our Physics buildings include probably the "Quietest building in World" which NASA used to test the primary equipment on the Mars Curiosity Rover? ππ
Tests took advantage of the the Ultra-Low Noise Lab to help calibrate and test Mars-bound instruments. Tests have shown the NSQI lab to be the quietest location in the UK in the critical seismic frequency range that scientists expect to encounter on Mars.
