Mrs Pigeon looks happy. Looks like Mr Pigeon did a good job on stick collecting yesterday 🙌🏻

Spent the morning watching Mr Pigeon bringing his life long love sticks for their new nest.

He chooses the spot and she builds it.

Once the eggs hatch they share the childcare.

They hang out all year coo ing & dancing together to stay connected.

FSASW Gathering in Hakeford Woods N Devon.
We had practitioners from Dorset, Wiltshire, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Bristol, Devon & Cornwall.
Some people own their site, some only work within schools, some are peripatetic, some have worked for 20 years, some are new to the region, some have been many times before and some only found out about it 2 weeks ago.

What a rich mix of experience, ideas and skills.

Oh and the woods...❤️🔥❤️
The dawn chorus was banging!

I love this season. Tree blossom backlit by spring sunshine 💚

What's your favourite spot this week?

Apparently weeds are bad
They kill other plants. They destroy things.

Gosh.

Maybe if we tell stories of how beautiful & generous they are...
Maybe if we make art to celebrate them...
Maybe we will start to love the edge plants that put themselves where they need to go.

Back for a new term. Reception helped make a mini herb garden.
We had a story about wonderful dandelions and played with handfuls of cherry blossom lining the floor.

I love spring 💚🌱❤️

This month's moon is the Pink Moon - coming from Native America. It was named after the flowers blooming at this time.
Celtic names include the Budding Moo. & The New Seeds Moon.

This morning I walked around my friends' field looking at all the different plants blossoming and pushing up into the world.

I didn't see the moon as it was too cloudy but I knew she was there.

I got to hear the dawn chorus from above my head too.

That's been the burning question this week?
Our little ratty friend was discovered in the grass so we brought it over to camp to take a look.

The frying pan was the nearest thing I could find 🤣

I told them the story of The Minpins (Roald Dahl) and said I have been told the Minpins live in hedge on the field. Although I personally have never seen a Minpin myself...

The best answer we came up with to the question - what's the story here was a Gruncher or perhaps a fox.

It doesn't matter actually. What's important is cultivating curiosity, asking, asking, asking the questions.
What happened?
When?
Who?
Where did it happen?
Why?

All tracking questions wrapped up in a story.
