Today marks the start of Carers Week, a time to recognise and celebrate the millions of unpaid carers across the UK who provide support, love and care to family members and friends every single day.

At Headway Bristol, we see firsthand the incredible difference carers make to the lives of people affected by brain injury. Whether you’re a partner, parent, child, sibling, friend or neighbour, the role of a carer can be both rewarding and incredibly challenging.

Many carers take on responsibilities they never expected, often balancing work, family life and their own wellbeing while supporting someone they love. Too often, their dedication goes unseen.

This Carers Week, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to every carer. Your patience, strength, resilience and compassion do not go unnoticed. You are an essential part of the recovery journey and the support you provide makes an enormous difference.

If you’re a carer and need support, advice, information or simply someone who understands, please know that you’re not alone. Headway Bristol is here to help.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Dan from Lloyds Bank and his wife Ruth, who went above and beyond to support Headway Bristol.

Dan and Ruth travelled from their home in Cheltenham, collecting donations from the Lloyds offices in Newport and Bristol Harbourside before meeting Mari at our new Woodside Centre. Thanks to the incredible generosity of Lloyds colleagues, they delivered a huge collection of clothing donations for us.

Keep an eye out over the coming weeks for our clothing sale and new Vinted page, where these donations will help raise vital funds for Headway Bristol.

Dan’s connection to Headway Bristol is particularly special. Fifteen years ago, he sustained an acquired brain injury and received years of rehabilitation support from Headway. His recovery journey is truly inspirational, and we look forward to sharing more about Dan’s story and the incredible role Ruth played in supporting him along the way.
