acceptance. We believe that to be a part of our society and to fully experience the joy that is Bollywood dance, you need no prior experience or particular dance ability at all! Our lessons, workshops and performances are specifically designed to give anyone who wants to dance a chance to, free from pressure or judgement. Thus, we offer members of unalike dancing abilities a chance to perform on a diverse range of platforms, and we continuously receive compliments from members who’ve both never performed in their life and those with dancing backgrounds who have loved every moment of their BDS experience, from rehearsals to the final shows. This is always heartwarming to hear as it embodies the central aspiration of the society: to spread the spirit of dance, love and positivity. There are a range of events that we perform at, such as Garba in October and Diwali Ball in November, Aashiyana (a charity ball in collaboration with Asian Society, Tamil Society and Punjabi Society), Fit and Fab, East meets West, and various other university-wide performances. BUT there is no obligation to perform to enjoy BDS in its full at all! We also provide a pleasurable environment with weekly lessons that emulate this colourful culture: the most painless dose of exercise imaginable! To top it off, we are a very communal society; creating a close knit family vibe with ease. We make it a point to take our dancing skills to socials, whether they be at the club or a chilled movie night - you’ve hit the jackpot society where you get the chance to wind down but also turn up, and make friends for life in the process. To become a member for £10, you will receive FREE weekly 2-hour lessons all year and discounted ticket prices to our various events. For non-members, lessons cost just £2 each.
