The University of Bristol’s Department of Philosophy (School of Arts) are recruiting a Lecturer in Philosophy, with specialisation in at least one of the following areas and teaching competency in at least three of the following areas:
Aesthetics
Ethics
Philosophy of AI
Philosophy of Education
Political Philosophy
Value Theory
This is a primarily teaching-oriented role for a fixed-term period of 24 months. However, work will be assigned so that the role-holder will have the capacity to participate in the research activities of the department.

We invite applications for 2X three-year postdoctoral research positions and 1X funded PhD position in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Bristol.
The positions are part of the ERC project Expressing Value in Language (EVIL, https://project-evil.com/ ), led by Principal Investigator Dr Poppy Mankowitz. The project investigates evaluative adjectives (‘good’, ‘bad’, ‘beautiful’, ‘tasty’, etc.) from the perspective of philosophy, theoretical linguistics and experimental linguistics.

This fixed-term position is arising from the award of a Leverhulme grant to Professor Samir Okasha. The appointee should have a broad knowledge of philosophy and be able to teach across the curriculum. In particular, the appointee must be able to teach in at least one of the following three areas: (i) epistemology; (ii) philosophy of biology; (iii) philosophy of science; (iv) philosophy of medicine.
