Team! Our second outdoor cinema event has just been announced 🙌
Old sport… it’s time to dust off your finest 1920s flair (or just your comfiest jumper—we won’t judge).
Join us under the stars for a screening of The Great Gatsby at The Downs Preparatory School. Expect drama, jazz-age glamour and at least one person dramatically wishing they’d learned to dance the Charleston 🕺
🎟️ Tickets are on sale now - don’t be the one hearing about it the next morning over reheated coffee!
🍿 Food & drinks available on site (because Gatsby never did anything on an empty stomach)
🎷 Pre-show entertainment to get you in the mood… think less ‘quiet school night’ and more ‘mini West Egg soirée.’
So polish your pearls, channel your inner Gatsby (or Daisy), and prepare for a night that’s absolutely, positively old sport approved (hurrah!) 🙌

25 Days of The Downs, reason #14: Sport 👏🏆🏃♂️
Athletics meetings are full of valuable life lessons … with the realisation that the 1500m is significantly longer than it looks from the sidelines being the most important 😅🤧
Last Friday, our athletes travelled to Millfield School to compete against schools from across the region!
There were races, relays, personal bests and enough running to make most adults want a sit down.
The thing we love most about school sport isn’t the medals (although they’re nice). It’s seeing children challenge themselves, support their teammates and discover they can do things they didn’t think possible.
Today’s reason to love The Downs: opportunities to run, jump, throw and occasionally surprise yourself!🏃♀️🏃♂️
Only 4 days to go til’ Prep sports day!

25 Days of The Downs, reason #15: Balance ⚖️🧘♀️🙌
One of the great traditions of Preparatory school life is Exeat.
A chance to swap weekend fixtures for family time, school shoes for trainers and, for some, enjoy a Saturday lie-in 👏
Because as important as school life is, so too is having time to rest, recharge and spend time with the people who matter most.
The funny thing about Exeat is that children are often delighted to leave...
..and surprisingly pleased to return!
Today’s reason to love The Downs: finding the right balance between school, friendship and home 🏠 🦍🌳
PS, ginormous deckchairs also help with relaxation and balance in the midst of a busy term 🤌
