The Downs Preparatory School

Is it us, or does everyone get a little… buoyant this time of year? There’s something about the sudden appearance of giant, colourful spheres hovering over the Avon Gorge that makes you believe anything is possible.

And that, of course, is precisely what we aim to do here at The Downs 🙌

We are in the business of lifting spirits. Of encouraging the kind of ambition that, like a hot air balloon, needs just the right combination of warm support and clear, focused intent to really take off. We look at our pupils and we see a sky full of possibility.

Our highest priority is helping them navigate it, guiding them to reach great heights (without, you know, needing an actual burner or a pilot’s license... though, who knows? The world is full of possibilities).

It’s about more than just the view, of course. It’s about the journey. The effort of the rise. The gentle navigation. And, naturally, having the confidence to look at an challenge, like the vastness of the sky, and say, “I can do that.”

So, as we all look up this weekend and marvel at the spectacle of the Balloon Fiesta, we’re reminded that the right environment can help anyone rise… especially that of a 60-acre classroom 🌳
