Some of our Year 7 Gardening Club students had the wonderful opportunity to accompany staff on a visit to Fonthill & Lakeside Garden Centre today. This visit was arranged in recognition of their hard work and initiative in writing to local garden centres to seek support and donations.
These generous contributions will play an important role in the development of our new sensory garden at SBL, with exciting plans set to begin soon.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Fonthill Garden Centre for their support. Your generosity will make a meaningful difference to both our students and the wider school community.
If you would like to contribute to this project or volunteer your time to support the development of our sensory garden, please let Ms Heron know. We would be delighted to hear from you.

Year 8 Battle Fields.
The first pilgrimage took us to the second largest WW1 cemetery in the world with over 11,000 graves, which was especially poignant for one of our students who is the family of a Victoria Cross recipient. On our way to our accommodation, we visited a chocolate shop; we would definitely recommend this!

After a power cut last night, everyone got some much needed sleep before waking at 6am (5am UK time) for breakfast and ready to leave for The Somme with a planned 30,000 steps including the Sunken Lane where students stood in one of the 19 craters that were created on 1st July 1916.

Our Year 13 left SBL Sixth form yesterday. We are so incredibly proud of everything you’ve accomplished here. The sky is the limit for what you can achieve next; This is just the beginning of a brilliant journey. May your time ahead be filled with amazing opportunities, great achievements, and endless success.

After a late night football match being shown on the TV, and an early morning start, the coaches were very quiet this morning leaving for the Year 8 Battlefields trip!
A couple of hours later, there was a quick pit stop at the services; some just needed to use the facilities, while others treated it like a full wardrobe change and emerged in their summer outfits ready for the forecasted warm weather!

Battlefields Status: Refreshed, rehydrated and dressed for the Mediterranean (despite still being in the UK!!)

Science Speaks is a public speaking competition for Year 8 and Year 10 students at Sir Bernard Lovell Academy. Students have the opportunity to sharpen their research skills and develop public speaking skills beyond the curriculum. Science Speaks is split into Junior and Senior categories to give KS3 and KS4 students a chance to show off their scientific interests.
We have experienced the KS3 presentation, and this time it was turn of KS4...
