What a brilliant week at Holy Family ππ»!
We are so proud of all of the children this week; particularly Year Three who had an amazing trip to Mojo Active on Wednesday, Year Four who completed their multiplication tables check, and Year One who did their phonics screening check. They have all put in maximum effort and should feel great pride in their accomplishments. A huge thank you to all staff involved in organising and managing these ππ».
There was lots of sporting/out of school success, starting with Demi and Albie who got new belts at kickboxing π₯. We then had swimming awards for Mia, Amara and Aiden, topped off by Michael who got two gold medals at a recent swimming gala ππ»ββοΈ. Alongside this, Freya got a medal at cheerleading π£, Kaleb picked up a trophy and two medals at football β½, Zofia got her Catholic Social Teaching award βοΈ and Zainab got her gold badge at Brownies π¦. Finally, we celebrated Fraser who won 'Cofton's Got Talent' on his half term holiday π€. Well done to all of you!
Our πStars of the Weekπ are Oscar, Mia, Benito, Alexander, Gabriael, Sam, Hanna and Sofia. They have impressed staff with their contributions, perseverance, and readiness to learn. Alexander and Gabriael were recognised for their bravery in overcoming their fears at Mojo. Well done everyone - I look forward to a treat next week πͺ.
We loved starting our home visits for our new September intake this week and are really looking forward to continuing them next week. Itβs always so special to begin getting to know our new families.
As itβs a low birth rate this year, we do still have a few places available for September. If you know anyone who might be looking for a place at a welcoming and nurturing school, please encourage them to get in touch - weβd be delighted to hear from them.
Our Summer Fair is on July 4th, 12-2pm. If you would like a stall to sell your own products, or are able to help out, please contact Mrs Collins ASAP βοΈ.
Have a great weekend!

Penultimate week done! β
What a great week we've had again at Holy Family, with the highlight being our Big Lent Walk for CAFOD on Tuesday. We have been blown away by your generosity in donating to such a great cause - the total is currently Β£537 which is just incredible. Β£231 can feed a family for a year and we have raised over double this which is amazing! A huge thank you to everyone who was able to join us on the walk and raise such a fantastic amount of money for CAFOD. If you haven't donated yet and would like to, you can do so here: https://schools.walk.cafod.org.uk/fundraising/holy-familys-fundraising-page2026. We were also delighted last Friday to have raised over Β£200 for Red Nose Day. It's really moving to be involved in a school community where everyone looks to help those in need - thank you all so much! π
There's been lots of sport going on recently which has been great to see. Our Year 5/6 team finally picked up their first win of the season on Friday, coming away 4-1 winners in a friendly at St Helen's. The boys have worked so hard and have been unlucky in a number of games, so to come away with a fantastic result like this is testament to their resilience and perseverance. Tom and captain Leonel both got two goals and Player of the Match went to Nicholas who was immense both in attack and defence β½. Our netball team had their first ever game on Friday against St Mary's, and whilst the result didn't go our way, they gave a really good account of themselves. Addie got nominated as Player of the Match by the St Mary's players and Elsie got Coach's Player. The netball team also played in a tournament on Wednesday at Yate, with different rules meaning that they had to swap positions every game. Despite people having to play in positions brand new to them, they won 2 out of their 5 fixtures and gave a brilliant account of themselves. A huge thank you to Georgie and Mel for running the club and to Georgie for taking them to fixtures and umpiring π.
We had out of school success this week, with Parker, Beatrice and Tiffany getting certificates at swimming πββοΈ; Kaleb getting Player of the Match at football β½; Lucas getting a new belt at EPiC π₯; Nicola who picked up another medal at gymnastics π€Έ; and finally, Miss McQuaid who got a distinction in her level 3 teaching assistant course π! We are very proud of all of them π.
Our π Stars of the Week π are Harlow, Alicia, Nevaeh, Ryan, Josh, Addie and the whole of Year Six! They have impressed staff with different things such as art work, helping others, contributions in class and hard work in assessments. I look forward to a treat next week πͺ!
Have a great weekend!

We have had an incredible week at Holy Family!
Monday started with a bang as our girls' football team had their first outing in a few years. They played 4 games in a festival at Bradley Stoke Community School and won all 4, scoring 13 and conceding just 1 goal! Well done to Sophie, Tosin, Onyi, Freya, Alicja and Addie (who scored 10 goals!) We are so proud of them - congratulations girls! β½
Our Year 3/4 football team also had their first game of the season where they lost 3-2 in the last kick of the game but played brilliantly away at Little Mead. Goals came from Levi and a worldie of a free kick from star player on the day, Josh. We look forward to more fixtures after Easter β½. Good luck to our netball team who play their first game away at St Mary's after school today π, and to our Year 5/6 football team who play St Helen's away in a friendly rearranged from last weekβ½.
Our Year 6 class had a fantastic scientific experience yesterday, as Matt Hazell, a Consultant Clinical Scientist at NHS Blood and Transplant, came in and did a blood workshop with them. The children had the opportunity to test different blood types using vegan artificial blood, learn more about what Matt's team do and to use VR headsets to transport different blood types! Feedback from the children and staff has been so positive. It was an amazing opportunity for them and we hope to do it again in future years as Matt is a Reception parent here. We are very grateful for him giving up his time and coming in to do this for the children π©Έ.
We had out of school success to celebrate with Evelyn picking up an award at sports club πΎ, and Finn and Esme doing some great art work π¨ - well done everyone! We also wished Happy Birthday to Tosin and Hannah π!
Our π Stars of the Week πare Isaac, Arielle, Daniel, Ezra, Kyden, Darcie, Alex and Miss Taylor! They have all impressed staff with their perseverance, manners and great work. Miss Taylor got a special award as she finishes her university teaching placement with us today. We wish her all the best for the future.
Have a great weekend!

It's been another amazing week at Holy Family! π
We had out of school success to celebrate with Robert getting a certificate from a simulator event at the Aerospace Museum βοΈ and Lucas getting two awards at EPiC π₯. We were delighted to announce the winner and runners up of the colouring competition, with Amelia picking up first place and winning a signed copy of author Josephine Davies' book π. Our runners up were Sam, Samien and Mariam, with Mariam also getting a swimming certificate πββοΈ. If anyone is interested in buying a signed copy of the book, you can do so at http://www.amazon.co.uk/stores/Josephine-Davies/author/B0FLKP5LPL. We also wished good luck to Nicola as she takes part in the South West gymnastics championships this weekend, with the winner progressing to the national finals π€Έ.
Our πStars of the Weekπ were Eliora, Ollie, Maya, Aiden, Sienna, Oscar and Leonel. They have all impressed staff with their manners, contributions in class discussions and perseverance in all subjects. We are very proud of them! I have a few weeks' worth of winners to catch up with for a treat as it's been pretty hectic, but I look forward to that next week πͺ!
Our School Council had an amazing afternoon, as we welcomed in catering company Educatering for a tasting event. The children (and some staff) tried a range of lovely meals as we will be looking to change our supplier next year. We were very impressed and the caterers were blown away by our childrenβs manners! π½οΈ

What an amazing Book Week we have had at Holy Family! π₯³
Each day has had a different event, starting with our Pinocchio workshops on Monday with West End Theatre in Schools. All classes took part in a workshop and then all came together to act it out at the end of the day. It was a fantastic day and all children participated wonderfully. On Tuesday, children swapped classes throughout the day, so all children moved around the school in groups made up of children from Reception to Year Six, listening to all of the teachers' favourite stories/authors and taking part in activities based on these. On Wednesday, we welcomed in children's author Josephine Davies who delivered an inspiring assembly about her journey from reluctant reader to published author. Mrs Ward posted yesterday about the colouring competition running until Tuesday where the winner will receive a signed copy of Josephine's book, 'Mischief on the Farm.' Yesterday, we had an incredible attendance at our Book Cafe, where it was lovely to see parents sharing a book with their children and highlighted the great community that we are at Holy Family. Today was our dress up day and the children have blown us away with their efforts! A huge thank you to Mrs Ward for organising the week, and also to Mrs Collins, staff and parents who have helped out at the Book Fair etc. It's been such a brilliant week and we hope has further developed the love of reading for our children. ππ
We had out of school success to celebrate with swimming certificates for Lucas πββοΈ; Star of the Week at EPiC for Alicia π₯; and a cheerleading medal for Liv π£! Well done all of you! π
Our πStars of the Weekπ are Eva, Krishna, Esme, Louie, Tiffany, Sanaya and Liv! They have all been recognised by staff for various things such as exemplary manners, participation in Book Week, and excellent effort in class. Well done to all of you - I look forward to a treat next week πͺ!
As I said earlier, the effort for our dress up day has been phenomenal once again! Our Best Costume awards went to Teddy, Finn, Amara, Aurora, Jude, Elvis and Liv! All of them can come and get a book from me to go with their certificates - well done! Best costume for our staff (who followed a Matilda theme this year) went to Trunchball (Mrs Ives), Bruce Bogtrotter (Mrs Scriven) and Matilda's mum (Mrs Maccallam)! Great effort everyone! ππ
I am delighted to announce our School Council representatives who have been elected by their peers in a democratic vote. We are having a bit of a relaunch of this this year so a huge well done to Elsie and Teddy; Lucas and Florence; Bella and Lucas; Albie and Alexandra; Demi and Seun; Vinnie and Hanna; and Tosin and Reyansh, who will all represent their year groups in the School Council and drive ideas to improve our school. π€
A reminder to park and drive responsibly and legally around the school. π
Have a great weekend and thank you again for your support this week and always.

What a fantastic first week back! ππ»
First of all, a massive thank you to Kubus and Zofia's parents, Lucas' mum, Oscar's dad and Kubus, Zofia and Lucas who helped Mr Gibson and Ms Davies move the huge pile of wood chippings to our forest school area to improve the ground conditions. I have attached a picture so you can see the transformation and we have more plans to improve the area further. We are so grateful for your help and to Mr Gibson and Ms Davies for giving up their time to do this! We would like to run a community day in the future to help cut back some of the brambles etc. and make even more of our wonderful grounds accessible to the children. I will post some options of dates soon to see when people might be available and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again! π³
Yesterday, we had our online safety day and a huge thank you to Issy from Avon & Somerset Police's Cyber Protect team who came in and led a parent workshop and assemblies for all of our children about staying safe online. I spoke with some children after with our safeguarding governor and we were really impressed with their knowledge about staying safe online. We also asked them if they felt safe at school and if they knew who they could speak to if they ever felt unsafe, worried or upset about anything, and they were able to answer with confidence and said they felt safe and happy. Thank you to Ms Neill for organising yesterday - it was a really valuable experience for the children, and I hope that parents found the workshop beneficial too. π
We had lots of success outside of school to celebrate today, with swimming certificates for Mia, Florence, Stefan and Ian πββοΈ. As well as this, Frazer and Jake both got their Legoland driving licences π, Antos got a medal at football β½οΈ, Finley did some excellent geography work at home π, Amelia wrote some lovely stories at home π, Dallas got a Headteacher's Award for some brilliant independent writing ποΈ and Fraser brought in a medal and certificate from a getting a full house at bingo in the half term break π
! We also sang Happy Birthday to Maja, Tiffany, Levi, Mia, Fraser, Oskar and Evie for birthdays celebrated this week or weekend π!
Our π Stars of the Week π are Candice, Wiktor, Damian, Jackson, Bea, Elvis and Sarah! They have impressed staff with their perseverance, behaviour and positive contributions in class and at forest school. We are extremely proud of them and I look forward to a treat with them all soon πͺ.
A reminder that next week is Book Week and there are lots of events taking place, as well as the book fair for children to purchase books at. Please see the events that Mrs Ward has made on Dojo and her post on the School Story for full information. π
We still have lots of space at our after-school sports clubs and would greatly encourage our children to sign up to these. They are brilliant clubs, allowing our children to experience a range of sports and it would be lovely to see them full. β½οΈ πΎ π
A reminder to please book school meals by 9am as we have several children coming up for meals who haven't ordered. π½οΈ
Finally, we have witnessed some really dangerous parking/driving again recently. Please do not park on the double yellows, zig-zags, in front of drives, blocking the full pavement, or stop in the middle of the road with your doors open to allow children to get in and out. We need to keep everyone safe and be considerate to neighbours, pedestrians and other motorists. Please do not be the person responsible for causing an accident to save yourself a few minutes on drop off and pick up. We will continue to report all dangerous driving/illegal parking to the appropriate bodies. π
Have a great weekend,
Mr Harding

Dear Parent and Carers,
The Avon and Somerset Police Cyber Protect Team will be visiting our school this Thursday (26th February) to run workshops with each class, βfocusing on ways to keep safe whilst online. The team will begin the day with a parent talk at 8.45am in the school hall. They will share ways to strengthen online and cyber safety at home and potential challenges for children using different online platforms. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions.
