What an incredible day we had at our Sports Day!

Our little stars had so much fun taking part in a variety of exciting races, games, and activities. From running races to team challenges, every child showed fantastic enthusiasm, determination, and sportsmanship.

We are so proud of all our children for giving their best efforts, cheering on their friends, and making the day full of smiles, laughter, and unforgettable memories. 💙
A huge thank you to our wonderful staff and families for their support and encouragement throughout the day. We would also like to extend a special thank you to Coach Katie for leading such fun and engaging sports activities, and to Vinted Ices Ice Cream for providing a delicious treat that was enjoyed by everyone on such a lovely day. 🍦☀️

☀️🌡️ BEAT THE HEAT – KEEPING CHILDREN SAFE THIS SUMMER 🌡️☀️

With temperatures expected to rise significantly over the coming days, we wanted to share some simple but important tips to help keep children cool, comfortable and safe during the hot weather.

Whether your child attends Silver Stars Day Nursery or not, we hope this information is helpful to all families in our community.

✅ Encourage children to drink plenty of water throughout the day.
✅ Dress children in lightweight, loose-fitting clothing.
✅ Use sun hats and apply sunscreen regularly.
✅ Avoid prolonged periods in direct sunlight, especially between 11am and 3pm.
✅ Keep indoor spaces cool by closing curtains or blinds and using fans where appropriate.
✅ Offer cooling activities such as water play, paddling pools, cool baths or damp flannels.
✅ Provide healthy snacks with a high water content, such as watermelon, cucumber and strawberries.
✅ Make sure children get plenty of rest and sleep during warmer weather.

⚠️ Watch out for signs of heat exhaustion, including:
• Tiredness or weakness
• Dizziness
• Headaches
• Feeling sick
• Excessive sweating
• Hot, flushed skin

If you are concerned about your child, seek medical advice.

Please remember: Never leave a child or pet unattended in a vehicle, even for a few minutes.

Let’s work together to keep all children safe, happy and cool during this period of hot weather. ❤️

Feel free to share this post to help spread awareness throughout our local community.

• Parents and carers to meet classmates and families from class WhatsApp groups in person
• Children to develop friendships and familiarity with their peers ahead of starting school
• Building support networks and community connections
• Helping both children and parents feel more confident about the transition to school

📅 Session Dates (1:00pm):
🏫 Monday 13th July – Watermore Primary School
🏫 Tuesday 14th July – The Manor C of E Primary School
🏫 Wednesday 15th July – Elm Park Primary School

🍓🍇 Fruit Safety for Little Ones 🍌🍎

Did you know that the way fruit is cut can make a big difference in helping to reduce choking risks for babies and young children? 💛

This helpful guide shows safe ways to prepare popular fruits for little eaters using the right sizes and shapes for tiny mouths and developing chewing skills ✨

Some important reminders:
✔️ Grapes should always be cut lengthways into quarters.
✔️ Hard fruits should be sliced into thin, manageable pieces.
✔️ Small children should always be supervised while eating.
✔️ Soft, bite-sized pieces are safest for younger children.

At Silver Stars Day Nursery, we’re always encouraging healthy eating habits while helping to keep our little ones safe and happy every day 🌟

Please take a moment to save this guide for home too — safe cutting, happy eating! 💕

🌟 Pre-schools trip to Yate! 🌟

What a lovely little adventure we had on our recent trip to Yate! 😊

We travelled together on the bus, where the children were fully engaged throughout the journey. Along the way, we spotted two ambulances, which sparked a fantastic discussion about the important work they do and why they might use their lights. We also talked about bus safety, including when it’s the right time to press the bell—great understanding all round! 🚌

Once we arrived, we visited a stall to choose a snack, and there were some brilliant healthy choices made—apples were a popular pick! 🍎 Although the weather was a little rainy, we made the most of it by taking shelter and keeping our spirits high. ☔

We then enjoyed a visit to a charity shop on a £1 budget, making it a fun and thoughtful challenge. The children took their time choosing and were delighted to discover how much they could get for their money—some fantastic finds included a train, a helicopter, and other small toys! 🚁🚂

Back at nursery, there was lots of excitement as everyone shared their experiences and proudly showed their treasures to friends. It was a wonderful outing filled with learning, conversation, and smiles all around. 💛
