A big shout out to Isabel Williams, one of our SGS College Bristol School of Art Wise campus students who has completed 75 hours researching, planning, designing and painting a mural for Filton Town Council. The mural can be found on the wall entrance entering Filton Leisure Centre.
Isabel's industry placement journey started with research about Filton and she discovered the park was used during both World Wars and that originally the park had a lot of elm trees (hence the name) before they caught a disease and died.
Daniel Thomas, Park Ranger at Filton Town council said "We are very impressed with the work Isabel has done and the manner in which she has conducted herself. She should be proud and has represented SGS College in a very positive way".
Isabel comments "This was a new experience, especially painting on a brick wall, but I took on the challenge and pushed through it nevertheless. The experience was overall great and helped me gain an understanding of what to do if I were to get an opportunity like this again. It helped me prepare for possible weather changes, understanding colour theory more when mixing the colours, how people would perceive it, and executing a digital design onto a wall. I hope to do something like this again in the future!".
Well done Isabel - great work and thanks to Filton Town Council for creating this industry placement opportunity
