We’ve had so much fun at preschool over the last few weeks! 🥞💕
From flipping and tasting on Pancake Day, to sharing the love on Valentine’s Day, and exploring the traditions of Chinese New Year, it’s been a busy and exciting time for everyone.
The children have loved getting stuck into our themed tuff trays, exploring different textures and activities, and creating their own beautiful Chinese lanterns. 🏮✨
Here’s a little glimpse of all the fun and learning we’ve been enjoying together!

We’ve had a very rainy few weeks and the children have absolutely loved exploring rain through our EYFS learning.
Our rain tuff trays have been very popular, with lots of pouring, filling and squeezing as the children explored water, capacity and pipettes. We also enjoyed an Incy Wincy Spider tuff tray, using rice as the rain 🕷️.
We listened carefully to the different sounds of rain - gentle pitter-patter, splashing in puddles, and rain tapping on different objects. The children described how rain feels on their hands and faces: cold, wet, splashy and sometimes tickly!
We also observed what rain looks like when it lands, watching droplets ripple in puddles, drip from leaves, and soak into the ground. Stories and discussions helped us explore clouds, where rain comes from, why it’s important, and how it helps our garden grow 🌱
Outside, curiosity led the way with garden investigations and puddle jumping, turning rainy days into exciting learning adventures 👢💦
Rainy weather has given us so many wonderful opportunities to explore, investigate and learn together ☔❤️.

Come and visit us, reserve your place for terms 5 onwards and book ahead from September.
Throughout January, the children were captivated by the frost and ice they noticed outside. The cold weather brought new questions, excitement, and lots of curiosity as they explored the world around them.
We used this interest to support science learning, focusing on the concepts of hot and cold. Through hands-on experiments, the children investigated ice by touching it, breaking it, and observing how it slowly melted. 🧊💧
These playful experiments encouraged questioning and predicting, and early scientific thinking, helping the children learn through real experiences and discovery. ❄️

Our winter and ice themed tuff trays encouraged hands-on sensory exploration using gloop, ice, jelly, foam and water, alongside animals from cold climates 🧊🐧
The children investigated different textures and temperatures, developing communication and language as they described what they could see and feel, and understanding of the world as they explored melting, freezing and animal habitats. This supported fine motor skills and imaginative play.
