"Art has the role in education of helping children become like themselves instead of more like everyone else."
I found I could say things with colour and shapes that i couldn't say any other way - things I had no words for. Georgia O'Keefe.
Sunflower Space is suitable for children who may not be able or possess the language to articulate their thoughts and feelings. Allowing the child to engage in a creative process and convey what may be difficult to express with words by using the arts and to help shape their own narrative.

The aim of my business is to use the Creative Arts to work 1:1 with Primary School aged children who might be experiencing difficulties at school or home that has impacted their learning and/or behaviour.
I will facilitate a comfortable, welcoming and safe space to put them at ease to undertake a creative process, secure enough to express and explore their emotional experience. To actively listen without judgement so they know they have been heard, to hold them in positive regard.
The creative activities are child led and at their pace. It is suitable for children to articulate their thoughts, sensations, emotions or perceptions. I will work with a child's feelings that may feel too big for them without leading questions, interpretations or inferences of meaning. Allowing the child to convey what may be difficult to express with words by using the creative arts and to help shape their own narrative.
The arts can be a door to a relationship supporting the development of self-expression, listening skills, acceptance and a deeper level of understanding.
