A Friday reminder for women in tech: you might be one conversation away from your next opportunity 📣

A promotion.
A new role.
A return to work.
A breakthrough you didn’t see coming yet.

But here’s what we see at Cajigo:

So many women are closer to their next step than they realise, but don’t always feel it.

Not because they lack ability.
But because confidence often lags behind capability.

We hear this again and again:

👉 Waiting until they feel more “ready”
👉 Questioning whether they have enough experience
👉 Holding back until everything feels “perfect”
But growth rarely comes from perfect timing.

It comes from taking the next step before confidence fully catches up.

And this is where support changes everything.

🌟Mentors who guide you.
🌟Sponsors who advocate for you.
🌟Communities that remind you what you’re capable of.
🌟Networks that open doors you didn’t even know existed.
Because sometimes it really is just one conversation, one introduction, or one opportunity that changes everything.

So as we head into the weekend:

Don’t underestimate how far you’ve already come.
And don’t underestimate what might be one conversation away.

💬 We’d love to hear from our community:
What’s one conversation or moment this year that’s helped move your career forward?

Burnout is real and women in tech are tired.

Tired of having to prove themselves constantly.
Tired of speaking up and not being heard.
Tired of working twice as hard just to feel visible.

At Cajigo, these are conversations we hear every day.

Because these aren’t isolated experiences.

They’re patterns.

Too many women in tech are burning out quietly while trying to survive environments that don’t always make them feel seen, valued, or supported.

And eventually, exhaustion turns into disengagement.

Then women leave.

Not because they aren’t capable.

But because constantly fighting to belong is exhausting.

This is why culture matters.

Because belonging isn’t about “fitting in.”

It’s about:
👉 Being heard
👉 Being valued
👉 Being included
👉 Seeing a future for yourself in tech

While organisations absolutely have a responsibility to build better cultures, there are also ways women can strengthen their visibility and influence:

👉 Speak about your impact clearly
👉 Contribute early in conversations
👉 Build relationships beyond your immediate team
👉 Seek mentors and sponsors who advocate for you

The industry needs the talent, leadership, and perspective women bring 📣

At Cajigo, we believe women shouldn’t have to burn out when growing a career in tech.

💬 Your voice matters.

Employers, leaders and policymakers can’t fix what they don’t fully understand.

We’d love to hear your thoughts,

👉 What would make the biggest difference for women in tech ? ⬇️

🙋‍♀️ Hands up if you know the difference between a mentor and a sponsor and how each impacts career growth in tech?

Because many people still use the terms interchangeably.

But the difference matters.

Mentors talk to you.

Sponsors talk about you in rooms you’re not in.

And that difference can change careers.

A mentor might:
👉 Give advice
👉 Help you grow
👉 Share knowledge

A sponsor will:
👉 Recommend you for opportunities
👉 Advocate for you
👉 Put your name forward when it matters

Both are valuable.

But too many women in tech have mentors and not enough sponsors.

And sponsorship is often what opens doors to new opportunities.

Because progression isn’t just about capability.

It’s also about advocacy 💫

At Cajigo, we know the power of women having access to both guidance and advocacy throughout their careers.

Because support helps women GROW.

But sponsorship helps women PROGRESS.

So the question isn’t just:

“Do you have a mentor?”

It’s:

Who is advocating for you when opportunities arise?

The number one skill women in tech aren’t capitalising on: Negotiation 📣

Not just salary negotiation.

Career negotiation.

Because every day, women negotiate:
✨ visibility
✨ promotions
✨ leadership opportunities
✨ influence
✨ flexibility
✨ how their value is recognised in the room

Too many talented women stay quiet because they worry about sounding difficult, demanding or “too much.”

But every time you avoid negotiating because it feels uncomfortable, someone else benefits from your silence.

This week’s Cajigo newsletter explores why negotiation may be one of the most important career skills women in tech can develop and how learning to advocate for yourself strongly can completely change the trajectory of your career.

If you’ve ever struggled to ask for more, speak up for yourself or communicate your value confidently, this is one you won’t want to miss.

📣One of the biggest career myths we hear in tech?

“Work hard and you’ll be recognised.”

Because for many women in tech, that simply isn’t how progression works.

Doing great work isn’t always enough, your work also needs visibility.

Opportunities don’t just come from performance.

** They come from who knows about your performance **

And too many talented women are:

✖️Delivering impact quietly, without letting it land

✖️Downplaying achievements so they don’t seem like they’re “showing off”

✖️Waiting to be noticed, instead of positioning themselves to be seen

But visibility isn’t self-promotion. It’s making your contribution count.

That means:

👉 Sharing your wins without minimising them
👉 Contributing ideas early, not just when asked
👉 Building relationships beyond your immediate team
👉 Speaking about your impact in meetings and on platforms like this

If people don’t see your impact, opportunities can easily pass you by.

At Cajigo, we know visibility plays a huge role in career progression for women in tech.

And helping women step confidently into that visibility is at the heart of what we do 🚀

Empowering women in tech isn’t just about opening doors. It’s about ensuring they have the support, mentorship, and community needed to stay, grow, and lead 📢

So here’s a Monday reminder for any woman in tech facing challenges:

You do not need to have everything figured out to move forward.

Growth comes from showing up, learning through challenges, and trusting your ability to adapt.

The tech industry needs more women who are willing to take up space, share their ideas, and keep going even when things feel uncertain.

No matter what challenges this week brings, remember this:

👉 your voice matters, your skills matter, and your resilience will carry you further than self-doubt ever could.

And on the difficult days, lean on your community, because none of us are meant to do this alone. 💜

Here’s to a week of courage, growth, and believing in yourself.

There’s something nobody tells you early in your career:

You need more mentors than you think 📣📣

Not because you’re incapable of succeeding alone, but because the right mentors help you see potential in yourself that you haven’t fully recognised yet.

In this weeks newsletter, we share one woman’s journey and the profound impact mentorship had on her confidence, leadership and career trajectory after being supported by mentors through Cajigo.

Within just one year, she went on to:
🏆 Win a NextCIO Award
🏆 Be recognised in the Future CIO Top 100
🏆 Win the Tech Manager of the Year at the Women in IT Awards

Her story is a reminder that mentorship doesn’t just support careers.

It can completely transform how people see what’s possible for themselves 🙌

If you’re trying to navigate your career alone right now, this is one you won’t want to miss.

Sometimes one conversation, with a few mentors, gives different perspectives and can change the direction of your career.

Women in tech, don’t let a lack of confidence hold you back from applying for that job, going for the promotion, or asking for the raise 📣

Confidence is not a personality trait.
It’s a skill and it can be built.

Too many women wait to feel ready before they act.

But confidence doesn’t come first.
Action does.

Speaking up.
Applying anyway.
Going for the opportunity.
Doing it even when you doubt yourself.

That’s how confidence is built.

At Cajigo, we see it every day. Women stepping forward before they feel fully ready and growing into roles they once thought were out of reach🚀🚀

One action at a time. One brave step at a time.

👉 Got a top tip for building confidence?
Applying for that job. Speaking up in the room. Going for something before you feel ready. Share it in the comments 👇

Nearly 90% of women leave tech within 10 years 🤯 (source: ComputerWeekly.com)

But research from Akamai found that many women would be willing to return to their tech careers, under the right circumstances.

This isn’t just a pipeline issue. It’s a retention issue.

And more importantly, it’s a systems issue.

Because women aren’t always leaving due to lack of ambition or ability.
They’re leaving due to:

👉 lack of progression
👉 lack of support
👉 lack of belonging

And when those conditions change, return becomes possible.
Because it tells us this isn’t a permanent loss of talent. It’s a solvable one.

This is where mentoring matters.

Not as a “nice to have” but as real support infrastructure.

Because the right mentoring:

✅ Builds confidence
✅ Shares the unwritten rules
✅ Creates belonging
✅ Opens doors

If we want women to stay in tech, we need to design environments where they don’t have to do it alone.

👉 What do you think would need to change to keep more women in tech?

05/05/2026

Women are not underqualified for leadership in tech.

They’re under-supported.

At Cajigo, we see the same pattern again and again:

👉 The ambition is there
👉 The capability is there
👉 But the pathway to leadership isn’t equal

And that gap is costing the industry talent it cannot afford to lose.

So how do we change it?

Here are 6 ways to support women into senior roles in tech:

For companies:
• Make progression transparent
• Sponsor women into stretch roles
• Create real pathways to leadership

For women:
• Make your impact visible
• Seek sponsors, not just mentors
• Step into opportunities before you feel ready

Because leadership isn’t just about capability.

It’s about access.

And when women have both, they don’t just grow.

They lead 🙌🏼🚀🚀
