Esports looks like gaming. What it actually builds is teamwork, communication and leadership. đź
âWhat we want to demonstrate within this course is that the things you enjoy, the things you do for a hobby and have a passion for, are absolutely in a position to be used as evidence for succeeding.â
James Fraser-Murison, co-creator of ASDANâs Esports Short Course with Fraser Esports.
Six modules: intro to esports, careers and pathways, health and safety, building an esports business, branding and communications, team leadership. Around 10 to 60 accredited hours, for learners aged 13+.
Engagement happens where learners already care. Esports is one of those places.

Independent thinking is hard to teach. The EPQ teaches it by doing.
The Extended Project Qualification is a Level 3 qualification that asks learners to choose a topic, plan their own project, research it deeply and present their findings. Itâs roughly equivalent to half an A-Level and recognised across UCAS.
Autonomy is the engine. Learners pick their own subject, set their own deadlines, manage their own scope. By the end, theyâve evidenced thinking, decision making, self-awareness and communication. Four of our six core skills, in one piece of work.
Swipe through to see what the EPQ looks like in practice. Link in bio if you want to bring it to your centre.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, weâre reflecting on the importance of creating learning environments where every learner feels able to thrive. đ
Education is about so much more than academic achievement. Confidence, connection, belonging and self-awareness all play a huge role in helping learners grow both inside the classroom and out.
At ASDAN, we believe that supporting wellbeing should be part of everyday education. When learners feel listened to, encouraged and understood, theyâre more likely to engage with learning and feel confident in themselves and their futures.
Mental health conversations shouldnât be limited to one week of the year, but Mental Health Awareness Week is an important opportunity to continue raising awareness and recognising the impact that positive relationships can have on young people.
Every learnerâs journey is different, and small moments of encouragement can make a lasting difference.
Thank you to everyone across schools, colleges, trusts, youth and community settings who holds space for learners and for each other, especially at the end of a long week. đ
