This week in pre school..😀

We have had another lovely week at pre school!

Lots of busy activities everyday and we had a lovely time at our family picnic on Tuesday at pre school! Thank you to everyone who came along!😀

Some of the activities in the classroom this week have been…

We had lots of dance parties with the twirlers and musical instruments! We have also been doing dough disco every day and sang lots of action songs such as; Hokey Cokey, sleeping bunnies and 5 currant buns!

In our small world area we had our dolls house and castle! The children added all the furniture to the houses and the play people and made stories with the people, moving them around the houses and making voices!

For mark making we added glue, scissors and sticky shapes to make pictures! However we also had our painting easel this week! The children love painting and took turns at the easel, waiting patiently for their turn, we had lots of beautiful, colourful paintings!

Other activities included; play dough with play dough tools, the children enjoyed our new fuzzy felt world map, adding in all the animals to the mat and the children played games of catch with the adults with our new spiky bouncy balls!

In the garden this week..

The children have enjoyed our new diggers and trucks and have been racing them along the planks or filling them up with mud and sand to make cement to build houses!

We have also had fun in the sandpit and riding the bikes!

Finally, for extra snack this week, we enjoyed breadsticks with soft cheese for dipping! Next week we will be enjoying cereal with milk!

This week in pre school… 😊

We have had another lovely week in pre school!

We kept the classroom mostly the same as last week so all children had the opportunity to explore all toys and activities!

We had lots of fun playing carpet games this week such as; head, shoulders, knees and toes, sleeping bunnies and the okey cokey!

We added new musical toys to the classroom this week, we had a dancing duck that the children had lots of fun with! The children copied the ducks moves shaking, jumping and wiggling to the music! We also have new light up m, flashing, musical trucks and diggers!

We have added a new sensory area to the classroom this week to support children who may need help regulating their emotions, who may need some grounding time or any children who may need to take some time to enjoy some quiet time. This area has mats to lie on, sensory stepping stones to walk along and feel the different textures on their feet, we also have our spinning chairs and lots of squishy and sensory toys to feel and explore! We hope this area of the room will support all the children.

Finally, for extra snack this week we enjoyed crumpets with butter! Next week we will be enjoying bread sticks with soft cheese for dipping, this will be alongside our usual selection of fresh fruit and vegetables!

Wow! What an amazing first week back we have had!

The children have returned back to pre school happily and have settled back in so well! They have grown up so much over the summer! We have also welcomed new children this term and they are settling in well! We are really proud of them!😀

We have been getting stuck in to our provocation for September which is; “all about me!” We have also began reading our core story for September which is; ‘our class is our family.’

We have been bringing the provocation in to some of the activities we have in the classroom, such as…

We have been looking in to mirrors and drawing our faces! The children have been looking in to mirrors looking at what colours our eyes are, how many eyes we have, ears and noses. We also discussed the colour of our skin and hair! Then we chose different coloured pencils to draw our different facial features on our face pictures! Some children just made marks or stuck on stickers! 😀

Elsewhere in the classroom this week….

We had happy land toys in our small world and construction area. This promotes story telling in play and cooperative play with peers.

For sensory play we had play dough with play dough tools for promoting fine motor skills! Each day we will also offer the children the opportunity to take part in our ‘dough disco time’ this is when we play music and give each child play dough and we mould the dough in to different shapes to the beat of music we also move the dough around our bodies using our gross motor skills! Dough disco builds muscle and finger strength to build on writing skills and hand eye coordination.

Outside this week…

The children have enjoyed the new garden this week!

We have added a new play house to the garden with a table, bench and added loose parts such as stones, pine cones and a new tea set to role play picnics outside!

We also have a new small world area outside with stones and then added trucks and diggers with bricks so the children can role play digging up the stones and building! We also added high vis jackets and helmets so the children could take on the roles as builders!

Finally, for extra snack this week the children have enjoyed yogurts with their fruit and vegetables. Next week we will be enjoying crumpets with butter alongside a selection of fresh fruit and vegetables.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back next week for our first full week of the term!
