Nursery have been very busy this week creating some exciting new areas for the toddlers to explore!

“We have made a quiet and Comfy cosy teepee area for the children in the Toddler room, This is for the children to have a quiet area away from the busy room so the children are able to unwind and relax when needed. We have added some blankets and books so the children are able to get comfy while reading their favourite stories”

“Our construction area has new and exciting small parts for the children to explore and build with, using their imagination to create new structures”

And just like that we are saying goodbye to children who are moving onto school,
What a year it has been, incredible memories made and magnificent goals and milestones achieved!
We would like to wish every single pre-school leaver the best of luck at their new school and we hope their next adventure is happy, healthy and full of smiles and laughter, which is what each and every one of your children deserve!

Our graduation day was a success today, Thankyou for the huge turn out of parents who came to share this special day with not only your children but with us. We loved every single second and hope you all did too!

Last week the children took part in a cooking activity, we made ‘scrambled snake on toast’ for our snack.
This week as our topic continues as ’Julia Donaldson’ we have been cooking again, only this time we created our very own ‘GRUFFALO CRUMBLE!’
The children began by cutting up the purple prickles (blueberries and rasberries), with adult support each child carefully used the knife and independently sliced the fruit, they then added them to the crumble tray. Once the fruit was finished we added the crumble mix on top and put it in the oven to cook.
We spent a long time talking to the children about safety when cooking, we ensured our hands were washed first and when using the knife we held it sensibly and used it correctly. Whilst the crumble was cooking the children all took a visit to the kitchen with an adult where we looked at the crumble cooking and learnt about kitchen safety and that adults should only use the oven.

When it was snack time the children all enjoyed a bowl of their very own Gruffalo crumble and of course a scoop of yummy ‘owl ice cream’ too!
What a lovely topic!

For the next two weeks we will be moving onto learning about ‘feelings’. We will be looking at the story ’The colour monster’ too which is a really useful resource for helping children recognise and understand their feelings.

At Pre-School, our current topic is ‘Julia Donaldson’. This is always a massive hit with the children as they are all huge fans of her books. We have been sharing the story ‘The Gruffalo’ along with many others this week and today the children all made their very own “Scrambled Snake”. They cracked their own eggs, whisked and added in their own milk before practitioners took it away to be cooked. They all enjoyed Scrambled egg on toast for their snack today, which they loved. Next week we will be continuing this topic and children will be making ‘Gruffalo Crumble’ for their snack.

We are based within the grounds of Saltford Primary school. If you enjoy working with children and are able to work term time 8-9 am and 3-6pm Monday - Friday we would love to hear from you . We are able to consider job shares so if you can only do some days please let us know.

On Thursday 20th May we celebrated ‘National Bee Day’. As you are aware bees play a vital role in sustaining our planet. We discussed‘why’ Bee’s are so important and ‘how’ we look after them.
The children all made their very own Bee hat to wear and enjoyed buzzing around the rooms with their peers. We had a range of “Bee” themed activities on offer for the children to explore and even had a very yummy snack of honey on toast! All the children recieved a certificate for taking part in the day and were very excited to take them home! 🐝 🍯
