Unfortunately, following a plumbing emergency, we had to take the very difficult decision to close Bedminster Down School shortly after 11:15 today. We want our young people to be in school, and learning, as much as possible, so we never take decisions like this lightly. On this occasion though an early closure proved to be the best way to ensure the safety and welfare of the young people in our care. Our fantastic site time will have resolved the issue by the end of the day today, so school will absolutely be open as normal again on Tuesday.

HM Queen Elizabeth II, 21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022
On behalf of our entire school community, we offer our sincere condolences to the Royal Family on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. We are profoundly grateful for the life and legacy of Her Majesty and we offer His Majesty King Charles III our very best wishes as he becomes our Sovereign.

At Bedminster Down, we are all saddened to the hear the news of Queen's passing. She was a rare role model, devoting her life to public service and giving the nation a figurehead during times of national crisis.
The school will be open as usual today. We will be giving the students the opportunity to express their feelings and discuss their reactions to the sad news of the Queen's passing. Over the coming weeks, we will organise events to celebrate her life and Charles' succession to the throne. Any students who feel strongly affected by the Queen's death will be offered support from our pastoral team.

We are so proud of all of you!🤩🤩🤩
🌟🌟🌟GCSE RESULTS 🌟🌟🌟
It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces as students collected their GCSE and vocational results from school today. Our students have shown incredible positivity and resilience through the return of national exams, after two years of teacher assessed grades. We could not be prouder of them and the effort that they put in. Their success has meant that the school’s attainment has improved against every headline measure, when compared with the last set of national exams in 2019.
We want to thank the teachers and support staff at the school who have gone above and beyond to support our young people, not just in the last year, but throughout their time at Bedminster Down School. The happy tears of students (and some parents and carers!) really does make all of the hard work worthwhile. We wish all of our students the very best for their onward study and future plans.

As we wrap up Y6 transition week here’s a few photos from our problem solving activities yesterday.
We spent most of the day outdoors in team exercises and it’s clear that despite some early nerves, these students are ready to start a new chapter in their education with us in September. During the week they’ve settled into tutor groups, learnt how to use the canteen, find their way around and experienced secondary-style lessons.
We’ve loved having them in school this week and can’t wait to see them in their uniforms in September.
